King, Councilman Meredith S. Robson,Town Administrator Margaret C. Delohery, Secretary to Town Administrator Marc Romero,Assistant to the Town Administrator Robert P.Wasp,Town Engineer Thomas Hollywood, Lieutenant The Traffic Committee will convene in the Court Room located on the second floor at the Town Center at 7:00 pm. New Business: 1. Introduction The Traffic Committee and a resident discussed issues around Old White Plains Road and the issues around installing crosswalks. Chair Block introduced the committee members and staff to the residents. 2. Murray Avenue -Various Improvements Chair Block reviewed the topic for improvements to Murray Avenue. Consideration was provided by the Engineering and Police Departments. Bump Out on Forest and Murray-The Traffic Committee commented that it is good for pedestrians but a review needs to be completed for truck turns. It was commented that the County is willing to listen to the recommendations from the Traffic Committee; approval of temporary poles are needed. The Traffic Committee approved the request subject to County approval. Murray and Colonial Crossing Guard - Mr. Smeets requested a crossing guard during the evening and the installation of RFB flashing signs. Mr. Wasp discussed the costs with the Traffic Committee. Mr. Smeets discussed how other municipalities installed lights to light up the crosswalk. The Traffic Committee agreed that a RFB should be installed in the area. They will need County and Town approval before the sign is installed. Glenn, Homer, and Murray-Chair Block reviewed the area. The crosswalk has good visibility; she watched pedestrian safely cross on several occasions. She and Mr. Page 1 of 2 Traffic Committee December 17, 2025 Wasp discussed why the request was warranted due to the length of the road. Chair Block said she is concerned about the amount of delineators around Town. The Traffic Committee suggested asking for Town and County approval. Maple Hill Road -School Zone Signage- Mr. Wasp said there is a maximum school zone area, which the Town has already exceeded. The Town could not elongate the school zone further but markers could be installed. Mr. Smeets asked for signage north of Forest and Murray. Mr. Wasp suggested using advanced warning zone sign be installed on Murray southbound lane. Hillside Road -The Traffic Committee did not approve the yield to pedestrian sign because it does not follow MUTCD guide lines. Lane Stripping South of Edgewood - No parking on Murray Avenue and the installation of a stop sign at Maple Hill Drive were discussed. The request was already submitted the to County. Ms. Katz commented that it is a wide street which causes people to speed. Chair Block would like to see more speed data before a recommendation is made. 3. Hillside Road and Murray Avenue Crosswalk across Murray and Hillside-The request was denied as it is considered too dangerous. 4. North Chatsworth Avenue and Edgewood Avenue Mr. Wasp commented that the new crosswalk was installed in 2024. After the installation was complete another request was received. A speed hump was requested, but it does not meet the requirement. RFBs and tubular markers are suggested for the crosswalk for drivers to see it. Ms. Katz and Mr. Wasp discussed reflective paint. Lt. Hollywood said there are no accidents reports and did not see any issues, but he does believe there are crosswalk issues. Chair Block said she is concerned the RFBs will congest the area. Mr. Wasp said that they shouldn't be installed on certain roads like Weaver Street. They then discussed the possibility of light pollution in front of people's homes. The Traffic committee agreed to install the RFBs in the area. 5. Adjournment Chair Block ended the meeting at 7:44pm. Reports of Minutes: 1. October 29, 2025 This item was not discussed. Page 2 of 2
