Delohery, Secretary to Town Administrator Thomas Hollywood, Lieutenant Michael Perri,Jr. Civil Engineer The Traffic Committee will convene in the Court Room located on the second floor at the Town Center at 7:00 pm. Business Agenda: 1. Introduction Chair Block started the meeting at 7:03pm and introduced the committee and staff members. 2. East Hickory Grove Drive East-Speeding Issue This item was not discussed and was deferred to the next meeting. Ms. Katz commented that the only new information added was that the Village of Mamaroneck lowered the speed limit. Signage of the speed limit was discussed because the last two houses on the road are in the Village of Mamaroneck. 3. Murray Avenue - Discussion Chair Block lightly reviewed the item and invited Michael Smeets to address the Traffic Committee. He discussed his requests for the Murray Avenue School area with the Traffic Committee. He would like bump outs on Murray Avenue/Forest Place and Glen Lane/Colonial Avenue, and an RRFB at Murray Avenue and Colonial Avenue. Mr. Wrzesniewsky commented that homes in the areas of intersections need to cut brush to improve line of sight. Mr. Smeets then described his proposal of extending the school zone. Mr. Wrzesniewsky suggested asking the County to paint stripping to slow traffic. Mr. Smeets said the NYSDOT measured the speed limit, which was measured to be 37mph in a speed limit zone of 25mph. Mr. Wrzesniewsky and Mr. Smeets discussed the Rye Boston Post Road bump outs. Ms. Bronheim commented that speeding is not an issue in the morning during drop off because parents park on both sides of the street on Murray Avenue that it causes them to all slow down. Chair Block and Mr. Smeets discussed where he found his data source regarding the NYSDOT measured speed of Murray Avenue. Another resident commented that the issue starts at Page 1 of 2 Traffic Committee October 29, 2025 Daymon Terrace where parents drop their kids off and drive to the train. The Traffic Committee and residents discussed the false sense of security that crosswalks create. The Traffic Committee reviewed what the requests are for the Murray Ave School area. Flashing signs were discussed. Lt. Hollywood described how to measure a school zone. Another resident said the main issue is driver negligence. The Engineering Department agreed to conduct a formal review of the area. 4. Lookout Circle and Hillside Road Intersection A resident addressed the Traffic Committee and described the intersection of Lookout Circle and Hillside Road, which they believe has limited visibility. The resident also discussed an upsetting incident were two boys were almost hit by a car. The resident requested a stop sign on Lookout Circle, which the Traffic Committee and staff agreed to. The stop sign will be placed far out into the intersection for sight. 5. Lansdowne Road/West Garden Road and Clover Street- Road Signage The Traffic Committee discussed moving the stop sign on W. Garden Road to Clover Street and agreed on the move. They also agreed with the request of an installation of a stop sign on Clover Street at the intersection of Clover Street and Lansdowne Road. 6. Added Item -Weaver Street and W. Garden Road Two residents came to the meeting and asked to discuss an issue, which Chair Block agreed to. The Sunday before the meeting an accident happened at the intersection of Weaver Street and Maple Hill. Two cars were in a head on collision when a car from Maple Hill tried making a left hand turn onto Weaver Street and did not see a car coming. The residents live in the area and would like suggestions on how to have a safety study completed by NYSDOT. The Traffic Committee discussed safety measures such as, painted lines on Weaver Street. The residents and Mr. Wrzesniewsky discussed getting school support for a state safety review. Chair Block agreed to put the issue on the next agenda. 7. Added Item - Next Traffic Committee Meeting It was agreed to have the next Traffic Committee meeting on Wednesday, December 3rd at 7pm in Conference Room C, as there is a Town Board meeting the same night.
