Business Agenda
1. Introduction
Chair Block started the meeting at 7:03pm and introduced the town staff. She made
an announcement that the speed limit conversation will take place in May. Chair Block
and Mr. Wasp discussed the requirements around lowering the speed limit town wide.
Ms. Odierna would like the Town to find out if lowering the speed limit had an impact
on near by municipalities.
2. Added Item - Senate Place
Mr. Blaufard brought up a potential issue with Lt. Hollywood. Senate Place is going to
be closed by the school for a fair. He said he is concerned that it is a possible safety
issue.
3. Myrtle Blvd and Maple Street - Crosswalk
Aaron Marcus addressed the Traffic Committee regarding safety issues at the
crosswalk at Myrtle Blvd. and Maple Street. He described two instances of close calls,
once when he was almost hit and another time when another person was clipped by a
car. He suggested that cars speed up when going downhill from Weaver Street. Mr.
Marcus said that the crosswalk provides a false sense of security. Ms. Katz agreed
that pedestrians cross there, regardless of the crosswalk.
The area is heavily trafficked with the playground, train station, and farmer's market.
Ms. Katz and Mr. Wasp discussed using flashing light signs to warn drivers of the
intersection. Currently, the crosswalk is sighted correctly but there is a curve in the
road, which causes some sight issues. The Traffic Committee agreed that motorists
are not being careful when driving. Councilman King suggested installing delineators.
Mr. Wasp said that the Town could investigate, but they aren't concerned about
turning onto Maple Street as they are about people driving through the crosswalk,

without slowing and stopping for pedestrians. A sign for the middle of the road was
suggested to help the situation.
4. North Chatsworth and Edgewood Avenue - Delineators
Brian Lobel addressed the Traffic Committee. He and Mr. Blaufarb discussed the
intersection at North Chatsworth and Edgewood. Mr. Wasp agreed that the area is a
good candidate for the installation of temporary delineators. Ms. Odierna and Mr.
Wasp discussed the temporary delineators, which are taken out each winter season
to allow for safe plowing. The Traffic Committee agreed with the request.
5. Added - Other Business
Ms. Katz discussed the Safe Routes to School meeting with the Traffic Committee.
The next meeting was set for Wednesday, May 28th.
