Business Agenda:
1. Colonial Avenue -Speed Hump Installation
Chair Block introduced the committee and Town staff and began the meeting at
7:00pm. She gave background on the issue. Residents had raised the idea of speed
humps on Colonial Avenue. Town Staff reviewed the request and found it reasonable
and in compliance with the Speed Hump Policy. Ms. Robson clarified the potential
locations of the humps. The Traffic Committee reviewed their questions with Ms.
Pennella and Ms. Robson. They have a concern that motorists will speed up at and
after the humps and if there will be enough parking. Mr. Wrzesniewsky reviewed the
amount of traffic and speeding during school hours. The Traffic Committee and
residents discussed what constitutes as speeding. A resident commented that
speeding occurs outside of school hours.
Resident comments were then heard.
Mr. Clemens addressed the Traffic Committee. He believes speed humps are not
necessary in the area and not many people really speed.
Mr. Alex Sacklowski, 48 Colonial Avenue addressed the Committee. He said people
are forced to walk in the street and is in favor speed humps being installed
temporarily. Ms. Robson reviewed how long a temporary hump would be installed.
Chair Block and Ms. Pennella reviewed how wide the sidewalk is and if the sidewalks
are going to be in the right of way.
Mr. Spyro Stathonikos believes installing a sidewalk would be the best solution for
slowing traffic.

Ms. Picciotto and Ms. Katz discussed where parking is allowed on the street. Ms.
Pennella said the parking would not be effected by the sidewalks because they will be
in the right of way.
Ms. Hannah May wanted to know if Murray Ave qualifies for the speed hump polices.
Traffic Committee commented that it is not because it is a County Road.
The Traffic Committee and Ms. Robson reviewed safety measures around the area
and the Town.
Ms. Hannah May reviewed what the school has done to help with communicating to
parents safety measures.
Ms. Picciotto raised the issue of sequencing of lights in a school zone. Ms. Pennella
reviewed the traffic light signals the Town owns.
Mr. Alex White thanked the committee for reviewing the issue and supports the
