Delohery, Secretary to Town Administrator Robert P.Wasp,Town Engineer Emma Pennella, Junior Engineer The Traffic Committee will convene in the Weaver Street Fire House at 7:00 pm. 1. Introduction Char Block opened the meeting and introduced the committee and staff members at 7:03pm. Business Agenda: 1. Harrison Drive Karen Regan addressed the Traffic Committee. She states Harrison Drive has become extremely busy and traffic has increased over the past few years. Ms. Regan said the road should have a lower speed limit because of the sharp curves. She would like signage and a diagram for motorists. She described signage that the Village of Larchmont placed to help assuage traffic. Ms. Katz and Mr. Wasp discussed the state speed limit regulations. She stated it seems that the state is allowing municipalities to lower the speed limit. He said there is no curve warning in the approach to the curve and signage should be installed. Another resident believes that Town residents are the ones speeding on the road. The Traffic Committee and Ms. Regan discussed what Village of Larchmont is doing for speeding. Chair Block would like to install the curve sign but would like to wait to lower the speed limit until they see what Village of Larchmont is doing. 2. Hommocks Road The Traffic Committee discussed the issues listed in the request form. Crosswalks in the area were reviewed along with possible crosswalks and signage. Mr. Wasp agreed the signage needs to be placed. Roads with intersections should have crosswalks and it was determined that crosswalks can be installed mid block. He described signage that would be installed. The Traffic Committee reviewed line of sight issues. Lt. Hollywood agreed with line of sight issues and consulted the Building Department Code Enforcement. Code Enforcement doesn't believe there is a code issue, but will check again in the spring. Chair Block wants input from the school for speed humps. Mr. Wasp commented Page 1 of 2 Traffic Committee November 20, 2024 there are regulations around installing the humps that the State has in placed. Chair Block and Ms. Picciotto discussed the area of concern. Chair Block said signs will be put up. The Traffic Committee would like staff to reach out to the PTA about speed humps. 3. Ferndale Place A resident came to discuss his item. There is low visibility for residents on Ferndale Place to make a left on Weaver Street. 4. Next Meeting The Traffic Committee agreed to meet on January 22nd. 5. Mrytle Blvd Traffic signal conditions have been improved. Mr. Wasp said system wasn't working and has been adjusted. There is a sensor that senses how many cars are the street and adjusts the light time measurement. 6. Updates Mr. Wasp reviewed the crosswalks that have been updated with the Traffic Committee.
