Drive Electric
Car dealerships would not commit to Katherine that they would be able to attend the event, difficult since
event is on a Saturday, a busy day at dealerships. But the good news is we need just five people to purchase
EVs from the day our scoping document was accepted by NYSERDA. The three enviro committees will
promote the event bigtime! The EV event will be held Saturday September28t'in Harbor Island.
Complete Streets&Biking Update-VoM and the BPR, Mike Smeets
Jaine asked Mike to present his ideas on what the section of Boston Post Rd. in the Town should look like
ideally. Mike presented to the Town Board at their September 4'meeting. He suggested a bike lane from the
Hommocks School to Mamaroneck High School would be excellent since there are no parking spaces there
anyway.
The last meeting with NYS to discuss the Post Road was at the end of July. There will be public input sessions
(4) over the next 21/2 years and a municipal session sooner. Mike says we need to press our NYS officials,
especiallyAssemblyman Steve Otis, to get a sense of what NYS is thinking for BP Rd.
Also, the Town submitted a grant application for SS4A(Safe Streets for All). Mike thinks the Town will find out
the grant outcome in November. The scope of NYSDOT's work is likely to expand and may include the entire
length of the BPR from Rye to New Rochelle.
A Tree for George-Arlene Novich
Arlene reported that she will get together with Liz Aitchison this week by the brook to discuss details for the
tree in honor of George Roniger.
Update: postponed due to Liz's availability.
Monarch Festival-Kevin Crowe
If possible, the organizers would like a Collab volunteer to be at a table with Healthy Yard materials for the
festival. If there are none available, could we drop off flyers, brochures forHYoreven the HYsigns so if people
take the pledge right there, they can walk away with signs?
Update: Kevin attended and volunteered but with no Table for LMPP or the Collab. The event was
mostly kids'activities.
Repair Café&Upcoming Events-Kevin Crowe
Kevin reminded the group that the event will be held on Sunday, Oct.20t', 12noon-4 pm at the Mamaroneck
Senior Center. The stations will include repair of jewelry, computers, mechanical, knife sharpener, gluing
ceramic/wood/furniture, electronics, electrical items, umbrella repair, and cell phone help. Kevin and

school students volunteer for the repair café, we can use that opportunity/event to recruit them for future
volunteer needs. Honor students from MHS and Rye Neck HS will be solicited to assist at specific tasks.
New Sustainability Collaborative Logo and Webpage-- Hugh
The new Logo is being used across a variety of media, electronic and otherwise. Sue is waiting for laine to
speak with the Town Board to get their thoughts on the revised webpage.
Update:A gold-colored tablecloth was purchased with the logo for table displays at future events.
Solar Update on ToM Properties-Frank Owens and Mark Manley
Mitch reported for Frank 0 and Mark M that they gave an overview of the potentials for solar at Town properties
to the solar developer for the Hommocks Ice Rink roof. The developer expressed interest in evaluating the
various locations, and Frank will be sending the developer the ToM Solar pdf. The developer noted that they
typically require a minimum size of 200kW for any single installation but would be interested in pairing larger
installations with other smaller ones that the Town also wanted to include.
Next steps: Frank 0/Mark M will discuss with the solar developer again, hopefully before the October
1 meeting,to get their feedback once they have studied the properties.
It doesn't have to be all business:Collaborative get-together this Fall-Mitch Green
Hoping to plan a social event for all three enviro committees, tentative date of Thursday, November 14'
Mitch/Mark to discuss this with VoM CFTE and the Larchmont Environmental Committee.
Other News
Mitch brought up the fact that co-chair Mark Kramer has been calculating Food Scrap Collection Metrics for
at least seven years. Mitch mentioned that this is an enormous amount of work and Mark was to be
congratulated. (Applause = )
This brought up the subject of"Curbside Compost", a private company that can pick up residents' food
scraps for a fee of about$32/month. Member Karen Khor said she felt strongly that the Town offering this
option gives a negative impression since residents are producing less trash and shouldn't be penalized by
paying not to incinerate. If anything, she added, they should be paying less to have their trash picked up since
they are producing less trash because so much of it is now food scraps to be recycled. The group agreed this
was a good point and Sue said she would mention it to Town Supervisor laine Elkind Eney.
As planned, the meeting was adjourned early, at 7:30 pm, to give Collabs time to go home and watch the
presidential debate.
