HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963_04_09 Town Board Minutes ZZ) MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK, HELD APRIL 9th, 1963, IN THE COUNCIL ROOM OF THE WEAVER STREET FIREHOUSE, WEAVER STREET, TOWN OF MAMARONECK. CALL TO ORDER LThe Supervisor called the meeting to order at 8:15 P. M. ROLL CALL Present: Supervisor Burchell Councilman Kane Councilman Brush Councilwoman Helwig Councilman Cook Absent: None Also Present: Mr. Gronberg - Town Clerk Mr. Delius - Town Attorney THE SUPERVISOR -- The Supervisor presented a Notice calling this Special Meet- ing pursuant to Section 62 of the Town Law and proof of service of said Notice on all members of the Board, together with a communication, addressed to him by Dr. Bernard Haake, Su- perintendent of Schools under date of April 6th, 1963 request- ing that such meeting be held, which were herewith ordered re- ceived and filed for the record. He then stated that following several conferences with the School Board of Union Free School District No. 1 of the Town of Mamaroneck with reference to the location and construction of a new elementary school for the District, the School Board had made a proposition to purchase the school district property lying between the Boston Post Road and Palmer -Avenue and known as Block 407, Parcel 82 and Block 406, Parcel 314 on the Tax Assessment Map of the Town of Mamaroneck for the sum of $12, 500. 00. He further stated that this sale would be subject to all sewer and drainage easements and the rights of the public to use Cargill Road, and that the School Board would agree to the joint use of certain parts of this property for rec- reation purposes after the school is constructed. Whereon, following discussion and submission of an ap- praisal made by Harry K. Keller, dated March 29, 1963, in which Mr. Keller finds the value of this property to be the sum of $12, 500. 00, herewith ordered received and filed for the record, on motion by Councilman Brush, seconded by Council- man Cook, it was unanimously RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorized to publish the following notice of a public hearing, pursuant to Section 198 - subdivi- -1- 731 sion 12 of the Town Law, to be held April 20th, 1963 at 10 a. m. NOTICE PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck, acting as Commis- ,loners for Sewer District No. 1, will hold a public hearing at a special meeting of the Town Board to be held on the ZOth day of April, 1963, at 10 a. m. , in the Council Room of the Weaver Street Fire House, Edgewood Avenue and Wea- ver Street, pursuant to Section 198, subdivision 12 of the Town Law, to consider a proposition to sell to Union Free School District No. 1 of the Town of Mamaroneck, the property owned by Sewer District No. 1 lying between the Bos- ton Post Road and Palmer Avenue, and des- cribed as Block 407, Parcel 82 - and Block 406, Parcel 314 on the Tax Assessment Map of the Town of Mamaroneck for the sum of $12, 500. 00; such sale to be subject to exist- ing easements for sewer and drainage pur- poses, including sewer easements owned by the Westchester County Sanitary Sewer Com- mission (Mamaroneck-Valley Sewer District); and subject to the rights of the public to use that part of the property accepted by the Town of Mamaroneck for the purposes of a public street known as Cargill Road, by resolution of the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck adopted February 3, 1960. Said sale is pro- posed to be made subject to an agreement be- tween said Union Free School District No. 1 of the Town of Mamaroneck and the Town Board for the joint use of parts of said prem- ises by the School District and by the Town for recreation purposes.
