submitted proposals for the Reassessment Project. The plan, as originally outlined by the Town, was that a
selection would be made and a contract awarded in September. Prior to this meeting the contractors met
with the Project Administrator, the Assessor and Mr. Altieri at which additional questions were asked of

REPORT OF COUNCIL
Councilwoman Seligson noted that she, Councilman Odierna and Steve Altieri recently toured the
renovated VFW; great progress is being made and it looks fantastic. Councilwoman Seligson attended
Martin Luther King, Jr Event meeting. The Committee is just forming and the date for the event is set for
th
January 11, 2012. Councilwoman Seligson also noted the 350 Anniversary meeting, adding the banner
sales are underway with seven already sold. The Town Board has been invited to sail on the schooner
th
Soundwaters the evening of August 7 to learn about the Citizens Action Plan presented by the Citizens
Advisory Committee of the Long Island Sound Study. It’s a 2 year plan calling for specific actions to
restore and protect LIS.
th
Councilwoman Wittner noted that regarding the 350 Celebration the Town has been very lucky with local
illustrative talent. Specifically Taylor Lee has designed our banners and Stephen Mitch has done terrific
illustrations for our slide presentation. With the help of LMC-TV a slide show is being prepared for the
th
350 event. On a special note Alaiyo Bradshaw a professional illustrator has generously offered to do a
commemorative illustration; specifics of the illustration are still unknown but we look forward to seeing
the final work.
It has come to the attention of the Town through communication from Katherine Wachs that after services
at Sts. John & Paul Church the flares used for traffic control litter the street with plastic caps. Ms. Wachs is
asking that the Town do a better job of disposing of these more properly. Councilwoman Wittner thanked
Ms. Wachs for her correspondence.
Councilman Odierna attended the Planning Board Meeting on August 10th, discussion focused on 50
Country Road. A proposal to deepen the pond on this property is awaiting findings from the Army Corps of
Engineers.
Councilwoman Wittner interjected that this has been discussed for a number of years, adding this is a
worthwhile project.
Councilman Odierna elaborated on his recent sailing trip.
