HomeMy WebLinkAbout1926_03_26 Town Board Minutes MINUTES of a Public Hearing held by the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck at 8.15 P.M, on Friday evening,March 26th 1926, at the Office of the Town Clerk, 8 Elm Street, Mamaroneck,New York. P ,,S1'TaT: Supervisor Burton Justices Collins,Boyd,Howell, Leeds Town Clerk Sherman Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel. The Supervisor stated that the meeting was held in accordance with the resolution of the Town Board for the purpose of a Public Hearing to receive applications for a franchise of franchises to run and operate a motor bias line or lines within and upon the streets and/or highways of the Town of Mamaroneck in accordance with a public notice duly published. The Town Clerk read the public notice of the meeting as advertised. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was RESOLVXD, that the call of the meet- ing be approved. The Supervisor stated that all applicants duly appearing would be heard by the Town Board in reference to their applications and that any taxpayers or resident of the Town of Mamaroneck or any other person present desir- ing to speak would be heard in connection with or upon said applications. Upon motion, duly seconded, it Ann RESOLVED, that each applicant present be allowed ten minutes to speak for and on behalf of his application and that all other persons present desiring to speak be allowed not to exceed five minutes. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was RESOLVED, that the Clerk read each appli- cation in full and that thereafter appli- cants be heard on behalf thereof. The Clerk thereupon opened and read to the meeting the following applications .® Royal Service -bus 8ompany Union :actor Truck Company Westchester County Bus system Westchestet Motor Transfer Company County Transportation Corporation At the conclusion of the reading of the applications, the following spoke in behalf of the applications set opposite their respective names :- Vito Mareglino- Royal Service Bus Vompany James M. Carples- Westchester County Bus System A.E,Kroeger- Westchester motor Transfer Company L.S.miller- County Transportation Corporation >5 Z— Each of- the applicants at the conclusion of his remarks was questioned by the Supervisor and members of the Town Board concerning his application. The Supervisor then asked if there were any persons present who had desired to address the Board or -- to ask any of the gentlemen representing the various applicants questions. Mr. Sam Cohen then addressed the Board and asked several questions which were answered by the representatives of the applicants. The Supervisor then asked if there was any one else present who desired to speak and no one else appearing it was upon motion, duly seconded, RESOLVED, that the -Vublic nearing be now closed and that the Ttown, Board and anyone present so desiring adjourn and inspect the several buses which were on exhibition in front of the Town office. After the inspection of the buses had been made by the members of the Town Board, the Board reconvened. The Supervisor stated to the representatives of the applicants present and to the plIblic that the Town Board would consider all applications duly presented and that if any applicant desired to submit any further information that the same would be received. The Supervisor stated that the Town Board desired to act upon this letting of a franchise or franchises in connection with the other municipalities contiguous so that a comprehensive system of buses might be developed. The Supervisor asked the irepresentatives of the several companies if they desired to receive a franchise from the Town of Mamaroneck if the several applications which they have made to the County Municipalities were not granted to theca. with one exception they stated that they would release the Town, of Manaroneck from any franchise granted if they were not able to obtain the franchise from some other municipality. There being no further business, upon moti®n, the meeting adjourned, - To Clerk.
