TOWN OF MAMARONECK
held June 13, 1923.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton
at 9 P.M.
PRESENT: Supervisor Burton
Justices, Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Schaefer.
Town Clerk Sherman
Counsellor Gamble.
Upon motion duly seconded it was VOTED that the minutes
of the meeting of May 2nd and of May 16th be approved as printed.
A communication was received from the Receiver of Taxes
with letter attached from Mr. Samuel Swinburne in relation to erro-
neous tax assessment covering Lot 59 on Map of Chatsworth, tax of
1884 and Lot 60 on Map of Chatsworth, tax of 1884. The matter was
referred to Counsellor Gamble for his report and the Clerk was re-
quested to acknowledge the communication.
A communication from the Larchmont Gardens Association
was received and read in relation to the inspector to be employed
by the Town to take care of the construction of new streets and
the enforcement of the Building Code. Also the matter of re-
filling the excavations across highways and putting them back into
proper shape. The Communication was ordered received and filed
and the Clerk was directed to acknowledge same, stating that the
utters would receive due consideration.
A communication was received from Mr. R. C. Heather and
Co., enclosing a list of the size and type of lamps required with
the fixtures at the new Weaver Street Fire House.
Upon motion duly seconded it was upon ROLL CALL
RESOLVED that the installation of bulbs at the
Weaver Street Fire House be left with Mr.
Heather to complete.
A communication from the Mamaroneck Lodge of Elks #1457
was received and read, inviting the Town Board to participate in
their Flag Day services to be held June 14th. The invitation was
accepted with thanks and the members present vrere asked to endeavor
to be present.
A communication from Mr. Willard Fisher was received and
read in relation to the tar matter of Ada Bird which was presented
to a previous meeting of this Board. The Clerk was requested to
reply to same and state that the natter had been referred to Coun-
sellor Gamble for his investigation and report.
A communication from Geo. J. Mulcahey was received and
read relating to the condition of premises opposite his residence
on Palmer Avenue. The communication was ordered placed on file and
the matter referred to the Health Officer for his attention.
A communciation from Mr. P. M. Brinch was received and
read relation to the condition of an unfinished garage adjoining
his property. Same was ordered placed on file and the matter re-
ferred to the Building Cormission.
A communication from Mr. Geo. P. forbes was received and
read asking whether the Town would care to sell some of the furniture
which was used in Justice Schaefer's office. the Clerk was requested
to reply, stating that same could not be done at this time.
The Clerk reported that the bulletin boards throughout
the Town needed repairing and the matter was left in his hands to
take care of the same.
The Supervisor stated that the dedication and laying of
the corner stone of the new Weaver Street Fire House would take
place on July 4th, 1923, and upon motion, duly seconded, it was
VOTED that invitations be extended to the Village
Boards of Mamaroneck and Larchmont and to Chief
Jones of New Rochelle, Chief Gypsum of Mount
Vernon and Chief Griffen of White Plains and Chief
Mulcahey of Yonkers to participate at this
dedication.
The matter of the purchase of new hooks and ladder was
considered and upon motion duly seconded, it was
RESOLVED that the Supervisor be and he hereby
is authorized and empmowered to draw up speci-
fications and advertise in accordance with
law for the purchase of a hook and ladder
automobile apparatus.
The Supervisor stated that there had been some extra,
costs in the construction of the Weaver Street Building, such as
ceiling work, corner store, side walls excavation and wiring, and
it was upon motion duly seconded, upon ROLL CALL
RESOLVED that the expense for the extra costs
in the construction of the New Weaver Street
Building be and the same hereby is approved.
Upon irotion the meeting adjourned at 10.15 P.M.
