TOWN OF MAMARONECK
held August 17th, 1927
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton
at 10:15 P. M.
present: Supervisor Burton
Justices Boyd, Howell and Leeds

Counsellor Gamble
Upon motion, it was voted to dispense with the reading
of the minutes of meetings not yet approved.
Mr. Frank Aloisi appeared before the meeting and
stated to the Board that the surface water at the corner of
Plen and Valley Roads ran over and into his property due to the
lack of curbing in front of his property. After discussion, the
matter was referred to the Superintendent of Highways for his
attention.
Mr. Marcus appeared before the Board in relation to his
application for the extension of water mains in and along
Murray Avenue a distance of 225 feet. He was advised that the
Town Board had adopted the resolution approving of the install
a,tion and the application presented to the Board of Trustees of the
Westchester Joint Water Works, No. 1, who laid the matter over
for further consideration due to the excessive cost of said
installation_.
Mr. Marcus was advised that the Water Board would
approve of the installation providing he did the trenching and
back filling.
Mr. Marcus then stated that in as much as he would be
required to pay the cost for the trenching and back filling, he
would like to amend the request for the installation from 225
feet to 275 feet.
After discussion, it was upon motion, duly seconded
RESOLVED, that the resolution heretofore
adopted by this Board on August 5th, 1927
requesting the Westchester Joint Water
Works, No. 1, to install 225 feet of water
main in and along Murray Avenue be and
the same hereby is in all respects rescinded.

R'ESOI<VED, WHEIREAS, the Board of Trustees
of the Westchester Joint Water Works, No. 1,
has submitted an estimate of 1339.01 as the
cost of installing 275 feet of 611 distribution
main in Murray Avenna from the end of the
present line north easterly from forest
Avenue, said estimate being exclusive of
the cost of trenching and back filling
which is estimated at X805.35, making a
total estimate of this extension &1,144.36

Therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that said Westchester Joint
Water Works, No. 1, be and it hereby
is authorized and requested to install .
said main and to charge the Town of
_ Mamaroneck the actual cost thereof as
ascertained and approved by the Board
of Trustees of said Westchester Joint
'Water Works, No. 1, provided however,
that the excavating and back filling
of the trench, the cost of which is
estimated at the sum of 1805.35, will
be performed by the Murray Avenue and
Weaver Street Realty And Construction
Corporation.
Upon application of Mr. Doody, President of the Rouken
Glen, Inc. , the Supervisor presented the estimate of the Vilest=
cheater Joint Water Works, Ito. 1, of the probable cost of install- ;
ing 400 feet of 6" pipe on Rouken Glen, South Drive, together
with one fire hydrant. The estimate kas fixed at the sum of
1636.67. excluding the excavating and back filling of the trench&
the cost of which is to be borne by the Rouken Glen, Inc.,, making
the total estimate of this work1,136.fi7.
Upon motion, duly seconded, it was, upon roll call
unanimously
RESOLVED, WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees
of the Westchester Joint Water Works, No. 1,
has submitted an estimate of 1636.67 as the
cost of installing 400 feet of 6" pipe on
Rouken Glen, South Drive, together with one
hydrant, exclusive of excavating and back
filling of the trench which cost is estimated
at the sum of X500.00, making the total
estimate of this work 11;136.67.

RESOLVED, that said Westchester Joint Water
,Works, No. 1, be and it hereby is authorized
and requested to install said main and fire
hydrant, and to charge the Town of Mamaroneck
the actual cost thereof as ascertained and
approved by the Board of Trustees of said
Westchester Joint Prater Works, No. 1,
provided however, that the excavating and
back filling of the trench, the cost of
which is estimated at the sum of Five Hundred
(4500.00) Dollars, will be performed by the
Rouken Glen Incorporated.
A communication from Mr. William J. Shea of Stonyside
Drive was received and read in relation to the condition of said
street and the drains adjacent thereto. The communication was
ordered noted in the minutes, and referred to the Superintendent
of Highways.
A communication from Mr. Harold A. Knight of Stonyside
Drive was received and read in relation to the condition of said
street. The communication was ordered noted in the minutes and
referred to the Superintendent of Highways.
A communication from Grace P. Rapoport was received
and mead relating to the condition of Stonyside Drive. The
communication was ordered noted in the minutes and referred to
the Superintendent of highways.
A communication from Mr. C,! 0. Merritt was received

and read relating to the over flowing of the Brook running
through the Gardens. It stated that he had taken this matter
up with Mrs. Parent and he agreed to put in a sluice gate pipe
provided the Town Board approved of such installation. After
discussing the matter, the question arose whether the Town
Board had any jurisdiction.
It was footed that the communication be placed on file
and the matter referred to Counsellor Gamble for his opinion and
reply to Kr. Merritt.
A communication from Mr. William H. Stanley was
received and read requesting the installation of street lights
and other street improvements on South Drive. The communication
vas ordered noted in the minutes, placed on file and the matter
referred to the Superintendent of Highways to take up with
Mr. Moody, President of the Rouken Glen, Incorporated.
Upon motion, the meeting adjourned at 11:00 P. Y.
