HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924_01_16 Town Board Minutes (2) 2' Meeting of Joint Town Board TOMS OF MPMAROVECK held Jan.16, 1924. 10: The meeting wag called to order by Supervisor Burton at : P,M, PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd and Shafer, Superintendent of yighways Coles, Town Clerk Shermaa. Upon motion duly seconded, it was voted to dispense with the regular order of business in order to enable those present who wished to address the Board, to so do, Mr. Rufus K. A1lerton and a committee of the Larchmont Gaxdens Association appeared before $be 'B3srd and presented a reso- lution passed at a, meeting of their Association requesting relief of the condition of the gown Highways, namely Myrtle Ave., Oak Street, east and west 3r30kside Drive and repairs to the bridge over the outlet of Sheldrake Lake, a part of Lakeside "Drive. 'The matters were discussed with the Superintendent of HiehwVs who stated, that work upon the above named streets were being contemplated and that repairs upon came -could commence immediately. IvL. A.S-Tord.en was also present and requested reconsider- atian of a decision of this Board in the acceptance of Hickory - Grove Trine and Locust Street. After a full discussion of the matter, it was upoxs motion duly seccnded RESOLVEr, that this Board together with the Superintendent of Highways reconsider the application for the acceptance as Town High- ways Hickory Grove '^rive and Locust Street. Supervisor Burton reports d that there are no funds on hand with which to meet the highway payroll. and pay other expenses for highway purposes until the 1954 taxes are collected, and requested that authority be grMted to issue a certificate of indebtedness in the sum of $6,000/00 to be distributed as follows: $=0.00 for general repair purposes under item 1, w1,000.00 for tools and mach- finery Purposes sander item 3; and $1500.00 for snow and other miscell- aneous purposes under item 4. Justice Collins thereupon offered for adoption the follow- ing resclution:, be it RESOLTET , that pursuant to SOctiOn 96 of the Highway Law, the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to borrow upon the faith and credit of the Town of Mamaroneck, the sum of $6,000.00, for which sum he shall issue in the nacre and under the seal of said 'Town in anticipatiOn of the collection of taxes levied for highway purposes, which wi:.1 become due on April 1, 1924, a certificate of indebtedness. Said certificate of indebtedness shall be signed by the Supervisor, ca+antersigned by the Town Clerk, shall bear interest at a rote of not more than e per annum, and shall be made payable at such time as the Supervisor nay determine; and it is further RES()LVE'D, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to dispose of said certificate for nut less than the par value there- of, 'and it is further -2- RESOLVED!, that the Supervisor and Town Clerk be end they hereby are authorized and empower- ed to execute and deliver such papers as may be necessary to effect the sale of said certificate. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, the same was upon ROLL CALL unanimously adopted. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Highways, it was upon motion duly seconded, mon ROLL CALL, RESOLVED, that the New Park Inter-Urban eater Co�pany, be and it hereby is requested, requir- ed and directed to extend its wsa.ter maim in and along Chatsworth Avenue from the end of the present main in an north elsterly direction tovra.rd,s Glen Road, a. distance Of 500 feet and to install one hydrant upon the line of the Proposed extension.
