HomeMy WebLinkAbout1923_11_21 Town Board Minutes (2) Meeting of the Joint Town Board Town of Mamaroneck held November 21st, 1923. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd, Dudley and Shafer, Superintendent of Highways Coles, Town Clerk Sherman, Counsellor Gamble. The minutes of the meetings of September 25th, October 3rd and October 6th were read and upon motion, approved. The report of the Superintendent of Highways for the month of October wass received, read, spread upon the minutes and in as follows: November 21, 1923. Town Board: Re: Work on Roads of Town. Gentlemen: Special work for County on Weaver Street practically finished. Have taken care of water at Palmer Lane and Weaver Street, supply drains and catch basins. Put drain across Weaver Street at Palmer Place and Forest Avenue. Put in quite a little work on Forest Avenue which is now in good repair. Bought ten care gravel and six tanks of tarvia for Weaver Street. Work of ditching off water, that had been entering prop- erties on Palmer Lane, has been finished. Rebuilt Sheldrake Road with stone, well laid, covered with cinders and well rolled - Good road. Filled in and rolled along sewer on Howell Avenue. Murray Avenue, Rocky Road and around Lake well worked with cinders and stone. In good Condition. Did quite a little work on Edgewood Poad to repair Fifth Avenue. A communication from Mr. Wm. K. Wacker was received and read in relation to the requests made to have Vine Road put in good con- dition and also relating to a sign at the corner of Vine and Valley Roads. The same was ordered placed on file and referred to the Super- intendent of Highways, who was authorized to take care of the matters mentioned in the communication and the Clerk was requested to reply to Mr. Wacker of the action taken. Two communication fere received from the New Rochelle Realty Company, one of which submitted for filing, blue prints and pro- files of Edgewood Avenue and Edgewood Terrace stamped with the approval of Mr. McDonald, County Engineer and the other again taking up the matter of the acceptance of Edgwood Terrace as a town high- way. After a full discussion of the matter, it was upon motion RESOLVED, that this Board in conjunction with the Sewer Commissioners inspect Edgewood Terrace on Saturday next, November 24th, to ascertain the condition of said roadway and it was further RESOLVED, that the Supervisor, together with the Superintendent of Highways meet with the County Engineer and the County Attorney, and urge upon then the necessity of improving the intersection of Chatsworth and Edgewood Road and ascertain the manner in which the same can be financed. A Communication and claim attached from Mr. John L. Taylor was received and read, asking the Town to defray half the expense, namely a $300.00, for the cost of filling in between the sidewalk and the Building Line of his property on Rookingstone Avenue. The communication was ordered filed and the matter referred to Counsellor Gamble. A communication from Counsellor Gamble was received, also the deed of dedication for the acceptance of Caerleon. Avenue as a town highway. The same were referred to the Superintendent of Highways for his report and recommendation. The Superintendent of Highways presented and filed with the Board his estimate for the year 1924. The matter was dis- cussed and it was voted to lay same over for the next meeting of this Board. Upon motion the meeting adjourned at 10.00 P.M. Frederick M. Sherman Town Clerk.
