HomeMy WebLinkAbout1923_05_02 Town Board Minutes (2) Meeting of the Joint Town Board TOWN OF MAMARONECK held May 2nd, 1923. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 9.50 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton Justices Boyd, Collins and Shafer. Superintendent of Highways Coles Town Clerk Sherman Counsellor Gamble. Upon motion duly seconded, it was VOTED that the minutes of the meetings of March 21st and April 4th, 1923, be approved as printed. The Superintendent of Highways submitted his report for the month of April showing work performed in his department, and the same was ordered received, noted in the minutes and placed on file. A communication from Charles MacDonald, County Superintend- ent of Highways was received and read in relation to final payment of estimate #3 in the sum of $400., on the Palmer Avenue improve- ment, to be paid to Fleming and Sheppard, contractors, and also assignment of the above mentioned claim to the Port Chester Bank. The communication was ordered noted in the minutes, placed on file and referred to the Supervisor. A communication from the New Rochelle Realty Company was received and read, asking that a survey be made to determine the exact location of the junction of Myrtle Avenue and Chatswroth Avenue. The Supervisor stated that there always has been a question as to the street line in that section and upon motion duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was RESOLVED that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to have the streets of Chatsworth Avenue and Myrtle Avenue surveyed. The Clerk reported the receipt of a communication from the Westchester Lighting Company in relation to the request of the Town Board for the installation of a gas main on Murray Avenue northerly from Glen Road and stated their inability to lap same at the pres- ent time due to the prospective income not being sufficient to jus- tify so lame an expenditure. The communication was ordered re- ceived, noted in the minutes, placed or file and the Clerk was authorized to again write to the Westchester Lighting Company de- mending the installation of such gas main. Messrs. Barnum and Bailey appeared before the Board on behalf of the Larchmont Gardens Association in relation to the acceptance of Harmon Drive, Hickory Grove Drive and Locust Street. After considerable discussion the Commissioner of Highways was in- structed to meet the gentlemen at Larchmont Gardens to inspect the streets in question and report back to this Board upon his findings. Upon motion duly seconded, it was, upon ROLL CALL RESOLVED that the Superintendent of Highways be and he hereby is authorized and directed to instruct the Westchester Lighting Company to make the following street lamp changes in the unincorporated section of the Town of Mamaroneck: 1-60 c.p. incandescent lamp on Pole 8, Hill- crest Avenue. 1-400 c.p. Novalux traffic light at Forrest 1 and Murray Avenues. 1- 400 c.p. Novalux traffic light at Chatsworth amd Murray Avenues. 3- 60 C.p. incandescent lamps on Chatsworth Avenue. Also change 12-32 c.p. incandescent lamps to 12-60 c.p. incandescent lamps on Murray Avenue. and it was further RESOLVED that a copy of the foregoing resolution be sent to the Westchester Lighting Company. Superintendent of Highways Coles reported that he had received requests to rent the steam-roller to several local people and it was VOTED that the matter be left within the jurisdiction of the Superintendent of Highways. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was upon ROLL CALL RESOLVED that the resolutions heretofore adopted on December 6, 1922 requesting the New York Inter Urban Water Company to extend its water mains and the in- stallation of hydrants in and along Chatsworth Avenue from Forest Avenue to Glen Road, be rescinded, and it was further RESOLVED that the New York Inter Urban Water Company be and it hereby is re- quested, required and directed to extend its water mains in and along Bungalow Road from the end of its present main to Glen Road and to install one hydrant along the line of its extension. The, Supervisor reported that the pines for the water extension have been delivered on the ground at Garden Road, Forest Avenue, Edgewood Road and Beach Street. Upon motion duly seconded, the meeting adjourned at 11 P.M. Frederick M. Sherman Town Clerk.
