HomeMy WebLinkAbout1921_06_08 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Joint Town Board, TOWN OF MAMARONECK held, June 5th, 1921 The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 9.15 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices, Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Shafer. Supt of Highways, Anthes Deputy Clerk Sherman. Two minutes of the meeting of May 4th, 1921, were read and upon motion approved. Supt. of Highways Anthes submitted his report for the month of May, 1921, which upon motion, was received, read, ordered placed on file and is as follows: June 1st, 1921, To the Honorable Town Board, Town of Mamaroneck, N,Y. Gentlemen; I herewith respectfully submit my report as Supt. of Highways for work performed in this Department for the period extending from May 1st, 1921 to May 31st, 1921 as follows: Completed patching of roads in Dillon Park with bluestone and tarvia. Patched Myrtle Avenue with tarvia and bluestone. Repaired and patched Murray Avenue with tarvia and bluestone. Cleaning gutters on Fernwood Road, Palmer Lane, Myrte Boulevard and Weaver Street. Cuttings woods and grass along the highways. Received four tanks of tarvia from Barrett & Co. Received auto truck from County Supt., Aptil 14th, 1921 No tools or lamps with truck and radiator also leaking. Respectfully submitted, Sgnd, Fred'k Anthes. Supt. of Highways. The Clerk reported the receipt of deeds dedicating Edgewood Avenue and Edgewood Terrace as Town higways, and upon motion, duly seconded, it was Voted, that the deeds be received and filed with the Town Clerk, pending notice to Counsellor Gamble of their receipt and awaiting his advise as to the necessary steps to be taken in order that Edgewood Avenue and Edge- wood Terrace be accepted as Town Highways. Carried. The Supervisor spoke of the need of danger signs on the different highways in the Town and Upon his recommendation it was VOTED, that the Supt. of Highways be authorized and directed to procure proper danger signs for Weaver Street near the chapel, Weaver Street and Myrtle Avenue, the intersection of Murray and Forest Avenues, and it was Further VOTED, that he also be author- ized and directed to procure direction signs necessary on several of the roads within the Town. The question being taken upon the foregoing motion same was upon ROLL CALL, declared unanimously carried. The Supt of Highways spoke of the needed repairs and painting to the fences along the highway and uon his reccomen- ation it was VOTED, that the Supt, of Highways be authorized and empowered to take the necessary steps to have the highway fences repaired and painted. The question being taken upon the foregoing motion, same was upon ROLL CALL, declared unanimously carried. Upon motion duly seconded it was VOTED that the Supt. of Highways be authorized to direct the New York Inter Urban Water Company to extend its water mains on Weaver Street and Rockland Avenue through Forest Avenue. CARRIED. Upon the reccomendation of the Supt. of Highways it was VOTED, that permission be granted to Mrs. Finkelstein to lay a water ser- vice pipe in size not over 1 1/2' through the existing culvert crossing the Boston Post Road neat Weaver Street, the consent to lay and maintain such water service pipe may be provoked at the pleasure of the Joint Town Board. CARRIED. The Supervisor spoke of the possibility of securing a government tractor from the County Supt, of Highways and upon the reccomendation of Mr. Anthes, it was VOTED, that the Supt. of Highways be requested to take up with the county Supt. of Highways the matter of Secur- ing for the Town of Mamaroneck one of the government tractors and if it appears advisable for the Town to sec- ure through the County of one of these tractors, the Supt. of Highways is hereby authorized and empowered to complete arrangements for the procuring of same. CARRIED. Upon the reccomendation of the Supt. of Highways it was VOTED, that Mr. Anthes be authorized to notify the Westchester Lighting Com- pany, requesting the installation of gas mains to be laid on Weaver Street and Myrtle Boulevard from Palmer Avenue to the Lake, also from existing main on Murray Avenue to Forest Avenue. CARRIED. The Clerk reported the receipt of plan for impriving Myrtle Boulevard from the County Supt, of Highways and it was VOTED, that the plan be referred back to the County Supt. of Highways and the matter taken up with him by the Supervisor and Supt. of Highways.
