HomeMy WebLinkAbout1921_03_18 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Joint Town Board TOWN OF MAMARONECK held, March 18th, 1921. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 9.00 P.M. PRESENT : Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd, Collins and Shafer Supt of Highway. Anthes, Deputy Clerk Sherman, Counsellor Gamble. Upon motion duly seconded it was voted to dispense with the reading of minutes of meetings not yet approved. Mr. McDonald, County Supt. of Highways was present and together with the Town Board went into the matter of of the agreement for the expenditure of Highway moneys for the year 1921. The agreement was presented and read and upon the rec- ommendation, of Superintendent of Highways Anthes, it was RESOLVED, that the agreement as presented and read be approved by this Board and the Clerk be instructed to forward ard the copies to the County Engineer. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was declared adopted by the following vote. AYES: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Shafer, Anthes and Sherman. NAYS: None. Mr. Williams and Mr.Burnett presented a petition for for the dedication of Edgewood Avenue westerly from Murray Ave, to Chatsworth Avenue. Same was received and ordered placed on file and upon the reccomendation of the Supt of Highways it was VOTED, that it is the sense of this Joint Town Board, to approve the app- lication for the acceptance of the proposed extension of Edgewood Ave, and refer the petition back to the petitioners requesting the securing the remaining signatures of property owners along the line of improvement. It was further voted that the matter be referred to Counsel to draw up the necessary papers. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was declared adopted by the following vote. AYES: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Shafer, Anthes and Sherman. NAYS: None. The Committee on the Myrtle Avenue extension to Fifth Avenue to the New Rochelle City line reported in favor of the proposed improvement, provided the cost of same would not be prohibitive. Upon motion by Justice Collins seconded by Justice Boyd it was VOTED, that Mr. McDonald be requested to make a survey and prepare tentative plans for the proposed westerly exten- sion of Myrtle Avenue to the New Roch- elle City line and it was further VOTED, that the Assessors be requested to prepare a list of owners of property within the area of this proposed imp- rovement for the benefit of the Town Board and the County Superintendent of Highways. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution same was declared carried. The Supervisor stated that Mr. Miller and the Chamber Of Commerce of New Rochelle extend an invitation to the Town Board to participate in the initial trip on the Boston and Westchester to Larchmont. The Board voted to accept the invitation and the Clerk was instructed to write Mr. Miller expressing thanks for the courtesy extended. The Boards attention was called to the fact of the arrival of the body of HARRY DUDLEY from overseas whereupon the following tribute was offered to his memory and that the same be made a part of the records of the Town of Mamaroneck. In recognition of the everlasting respect and love for Harry Dudley, one of Mama- ronecks boys who gallantly grade the sup- reme sacrifice for his Country on the field of battle during the world war, and whose body has been received from abroad by the family for interment in its final resting place, it is hereby dirsoted that the foregoing be made a part of the rec- ord of the Town of Mamaroneck and the Supervisor and Town Clerk forward to the home a token of our sympathy and love.
