HomeMy WebLinkAbout1921_01_05 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Joint Town Board, TOWN OF MAMARONECK. held January 5th, 1921. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 8.30 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices, Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Shafer Supt, of Highways Anthes, Deputy Clerk, Sherman. The minutes of the meetings of December 29th and 30th, 1920 were read, and upon motion same were approved. Supt.of Highways Anthes submitted his report for the month of December, 1920 which upon motion was read, ordered placed on file and is as follows:- January 5th, 1921 To the Honorable Board, Town of Mamaroneck, Mamaroneck, N.Y. Gentlemen: I herewith respectfully submit my report as Supt. of Highways for work performed in the Department for the period ex- tending from December 1st, 1920 to January 1st, 1921 as follows: Cleaning catch basins in Larchmont Woods, Larchmont Gardens, Murray Avenue, Myrtle Avenue and Dillon Park. Repairing ditch on Valley and Glen Roads with seven lengths of twelve inch concrete pipe. Patching Forest Avenue with blue stone. i Leaning brook at lower end of Fifth Avenue. Cleaning snow and ice from sidewalks and gutters. Respectfully submitted, Sgn. Frederick A. Anthes, Supt.of Highways. Upon motion duly seconded, it was voted that anyone present wishing to be heard, be given the privilege to appear before the Board. Messrs. E. Summers, Carmiel Tortarella and Nick Sterapoli residing at Beach Street near Myrtle Avenue, and property owners appeared before the Board, requesting that the Town take the above street over as a Town Highway. They also presented a letter from Mr. John Saporito also requesting the above action. The Supervisor advised the Committee that the procedure for them to take, would be to have a petition drawn and presented to the Supt of Highways with the signatures of at least 50% of the owners of the assessed valuation of the street to be taken over The Supt. of Highways would then present the petition to the Joint Town Board for their action. The Committee left stating that they would take the above procedure. Justice Boyd offered the following resolution in relation to the approval of certain transfers of monies granted by the County Supt of Highways. Same was seconded by Justice Shafer. WHEREAS, upon the request of the Town Supt of Highways, the County Supt of Highways has granted permission to expend certain sums of money for varioud general repair improvements on various Highways from the re- serve fund of the Highway account and WHEREAS, the Supervisor acting in accordance with such permissions has transferred from the reserve fund to the general repair fund the sums of money asked for, now be it RESOLVED, that such transfers authorized by permits No. 1 of November 18, 1919 for $1500 No. 4 of January 31, 1920 for $800, #7 of September 29, 1920 for $500, #8 of October 25, 1920 for $200, #1 of November 1, 1920 for $750 and #2 of December 28th, 1920 for $19.00, be and the same hereby are approved. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was declared adopted by the following vote: AYES: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Dudley Shafer Anthes & Sherman NAYS: None. The Supervisor reported to the Board in relation to the water supply question, whereupon Justice Shafer offered the fol- lowing resolution which was seconded by Justice Dudley; RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to confer with other municipalities in re- lation to the water supply question and if necessary he be authorized and empow- ered to engage Special Counsel to safe- gaurd the interests of the Town. The question being taken uponthe foregoing resolution, same was declared adopted by the following vote. AYES: Messrs, Burton, Boyd, Collins, Dudley, Shafer, Anthes & Sherman NAYS: None.
