JOINT TOWN BOARD of the
TOWN OF MAMARONECK, held
- August, 4th, 1920
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton
at 10.00 P.M.
PRESENT: Supervisor Burton,
Justices, Boyd, Dudley and Shafer.
Supt.of Highways, Anthes
Deputy Clerk, Sherman
The minutes of the meeting of July 7th, 1920 were read,
and upon motion approved.
Superintendent of Highways Anthes submitted his report
for the month of July 1920 which

and is as follows:

To the Hon. Town Board,
Town of Mamaroneck
Mamaroneck, New York.
Gentlemen:
I herewith respectfully submit my report as Supt. of
highways for work performed in the Department for the period
extending from July 1st, 1920 to July 31st, 1920 as. follows:
Completed patching. and repairing Old White Plains Road.
Material used, 135 yds bluestone and 65bbls tarvia K.P. patch.
Repairing roads and cleaning gutters on Fernwood Road, Roackland
Avenue, Forest Avenue and Palmer Lane.
Patching Murray Avenue with blue stone and tarvia, K.P. patch.
Patching Weaver Street with blue stone.
Cutting brush and weeds along the highway.

Superintendent of Highways.
Superintendent Anthes reported the receipt of a com-
munication from County Superintendent Charles McDonald in re-
lation to repairs on Palmer Avenue, westerly of Weaver Street and
also complimenting Mr.Anthes on the work performed on Old White
Plains Road. Same was ordered noted in the minutes and filed with
the Town Clerk.
A communication was received from the Public Service
Commission in relation to fares on the New York & Stamford Trolley
Company.
Upon motion the communication was referred
to Counsel.
Superintendent of Highways Anthes reported that he
had notified the New York Inter Urban Water Company, in relation
to placing of fire hydrant at the Junction of Murray and Forest
Avenue, also in relations to the extension of the main westerly
on weaver Street.
Upon motion by Justice Shafer and
seconded by Justice Dudley,
it was VOTED, that the Superin-
tendent of Highways be authorized
directed to have prepared and
placed two danger traffic
signs at the intersection of
Murray and Forest Avenue.
It was regularly moved and seconded
that a Town Bulletin beard be pro-
cured for the Dillon Park section
and that the Superintendent of
Highways be directed to erect same.
Supplementing the communication from Mr.McDonald,
County Superintendent of Highways, in relation to Palmer Avenue,
it was
RESOLVED, that the Superintendent
of Highways be advised to take the
necessary steps. to temppra.rlily
improve Palmer Avenue, westerly of
Weaver Street at acost not to ex-
ceed $125.00
Upon ROLL CALL the following voted in the affirmative;
Messrs. Burton, Boyd, Dudley, Shafer, Anthes and Sherman
Negative; None.
The Supervisor thereupon declared the resolution adopted.
Counsel brought to the attention of the Board the
various orders of the Public Service Commission, Second District,
increasing the rates of fare within the Town on both the West-
chester Street Railway Company and the New York & Stamford Rail-
road Company, and the order to show cause just served, petitioning
for the dissolution of the Shore Line Electric Railroad Company.
The matter was discussed at lenghth and Counsel re-
commended that the Board employ Special Counsel to test the legal-
ity of the various orders orders of the Public Service Commission
and Courts, in so far as they contravene the franchise rights of
the Town of Mamaroneck.
Upon motion by Justice Dudley seconded
by Justice Boyd, it was
RESOLVED, that Supervisor Burton and
Counsellor Gamble be and they hereby
are authorized and empowered to take
such steps as they may deem necessary
within their discretion, including the
employment of Special Counsel, to test
the legality of the recent orders of
the Public Service Commission and Courts
in connection with the trolley matters
affecting the rights of the Town of
Mamaroneck.

Upon ROLL CALL all members present voted in the affirm-
ative and the Supervisor declared the resolution adopted.
Upon the recommeddation of Supt. Anthes it was
VOTED, that the Board inspect the highways
on August 28th, 1927 at 3.30 P.M. and that
the Superintendent be authorized and directed
to provide the necessary transportation.
Upon motion duly seconded it was
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be
authorized and directed to have
the Town Cemetary put in proper
shape and that he be empowered
to secure the necesaby help and
that the same be made a proper
Town charge.
Counsel presented petitions pertaining to the taking
over of certain streets in the Larchmont Gardens Section.
Same was ordered received and referred to the Superintendent of
Highways to report back to the Board at its next meeting.
No further business coming before the Board the meeting
adjourned at 11.35 P.M.
