HomeMy WebLinkAbout1919_07_05 Town Board Minutes Minutes of the Joint Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck held July 5, 1919 Supervisor Burton called the meeting to order at 10:15 P.M. The Clerk reported the following present: Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd, Dudley and Shafer, Clerk Fairchild, Superintendent Hickey and Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel. Upon motion the minutes of April 11, May 13, and the minutes of the joint meeting of the Towns of Harrison and Mamaroneck of May 19 were read and upon motion approved. The report of the Superintendent of Highways was received, read and upon motion ordered filed, and is as follows: "Office of Superintendent of Highways Town of Mamaroneck New York July 3, 1919. To the Honorable Town Board of Mamaroneck, Mamaroneck, N.Y. Gentlemen: I hereby report the following work on Highways since the last regular meeting on June 13th. Macadamized West Brookside Drive from Hickory Grove to Fernwood Road a distance of 500 feet. Repaired Fernwood Road. Unloaded one car of screenings, same used in the above mentioned roads. Repaired Myrtle Avenue from Weaver Street to Murray Ave. and repaired Weaver Street from Myrtle Ave. to the R.R. Bridge, with 3/4" stone and Tarvia "B". Spread 1/4" stone on the following roads: Noram and Chester Place, Dillon Park, Edgewood Place and Maplewood Street, Glen Road from Murray Ave. to Chatsworth Ave. Cut brush and weeds on all Streets and Avenues west of Weaver Street, including Larchmont Gardens. Cleaned gutters, Myrtle Boulevard, Brookside Drive, Falls Road and PAlmer Lane. Respectfully submitted, JOHN HICKEY Supt. of Highways. " Superintendent Hickey reported the receipt of 570 yards of crushed stone. The Supervisor presented correspondence which he had had with Mr. Stratton of the Westchester Lighting Company rela- tive to the proposed extension of gas mains into Larchmont Gardens. Superintendent Hickey reported regarding the taking over of that part of Forest Avenue from Weaver Street to Rockland Avenue in Colonial Park. He stated that Mr. Lorenzen had agreed to deed the aforesaid part of Forest Avenue to the Town, and in consideration of the acceptance of said street by the Town, he would pay over to the Town the sum of $1,000. Upon the recom- mendation of Superintendent Hickey and upon motion duly seconded it was VOTED: That Counsel examine the title to Forest Avenue, and if the title is clear that he draw the necessary papers and resolutions, so that the Town can take over Forest Avenue upon the payment of $1,000 by Mr. Lorenzen and upon receipt of a proper deed. Superintendent Hickey reported that he in conjunction with Justice Dudley had appeared by the Village Board of the Village of Mamaroneck in regard to the Winfield Avenue Bridge matter, and that they reported progress.
