HomeMy WebLinkAbout1919_06_13 Town Board Minutes Minutes of a Meeting of the Joint Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck held June 13th, 1919. The meeting was called to order at 9:25 P.M. by Supervisor Burton. The Clerk reported the following present: Supervisor Burton, Justices Collins, Boyd, Dudley and Shafer, Superintendent Hickey and J.C. Fairchild, Clerk. There were also present President Miller, Mr. McKinley, Counsel, and Mr. Smith of the Westchester Street Railroad Company, and County Superintendent of Highways, McDonald. Upon motion duly seconded it was VOTED: That the reading of the minutes of previous meetings not yet approved be dispensed with. A communication from the New York & Stamford Rail- way Co. was presented and read, and upon motion duly seconded it was VOTED: That the communication be placed on file with the Superintendent of Highways. Upon the Reccomendation of the Superintendent of Highways and upon motion duly seconded it was VOTED: That the Plans and Specifications for the improvement of Palmer Avenue with a permanent pavement as presented to the Board by County Superintendent of Highways be and the same hereby are approved. Upon the Reccomendation of the Superintendent of Highways and upon motion duly seconded it was VOTED: That the County Superintendent of Highways be requested to prepare plans and specifications for the com- pletion of the proposed permanent improvement of Palmer Avenue from the easterly boundary line of the Village of Mamaroneck to Weaver Street. Upon motion duly seconded it was VOTED: That the matter of completing the agreement with the New York & Stamford Street Railroad Company for that part of the proposed improvement of Palmer Avenue, which is to be taken care of by the said Railroad, be referred to Counsel to take up with Mr. McKinley, Counsel for the Railroad Company. A communication was presented to the meeting from the Larchmont Gardens Association, requesting the consideration of the advisability of opening and continuing Hickory Grove Drive from its present southerly termination to Weaver Street in a direct line. Upon motion duly seconded it was ordered placed on file with the Town Clerk, and the Board requested the recom- mendation of the Superintendent of Highways concerning it. Superintendent Hickey stated that he favored such a proposition, and recommend that the Supervisor appoint a Committee to confer with a similar committee to be appointed by the Larchmont Gardens Association in reference to the proposition. The Supervisor thereupon appointed the Superintendent Hickey and Justice Dudley as a committee on behalf of the Board. The Superintendent of Highways presented his reported dated June 13, 1919, which was read, ordered diled and is as follows: "Office of Superintendent of Highways Town of Mamaroneck New York June 13, 1919. To the Honorable Town Board of Mamaroneck, Mamaroneck, New York. Gentlemen: I hereby report the following work on Highways since the last regular meeting: Graded and macadamed Springdale Road from Rockingstone Ave. to the New Rochelle Line, a distance of 200 feet. Repaired Rockingstone Avenue between Popular and Glen Roads. Unloaded one car of cinders, same spread on Birch Road. Unloaded 4 cars of stone, 2 cars 1 1/2" and 1 car of screenings, 1 car of 3/4". 3'4" to be used for patching. Graded west Brookside Drive from Hickory Grove Drive to Fernwood Road. Laid 8 inch concrete pipe at the intersection of the following: Wildwood and Rockingstone Avenue, Forest Ave. and Rockingstone, Fern Road and Chatsworth Avenue, Glen Road and Chatsworth Avenue, Fernwood and Orchard Roads. Re- paired and cleaned gutters on Fernwood Road. Unloaded 50 barrels of Tarvia "B'. Used Steam Roller two days on Spring- dale Road, Rockingstone Avenue and Birch Road. One man in Larchmont Gardens cutting grass and keeping same in order. Respectfully, JOHN HICKEY Supt. of Highways" Upon motion duly seconded it was upon roll call unanimously VOTED: That the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to purchase such office supplies as he may deem necessary to equip the Supervisor's office and that the cost thereof be a town charge. Upon motion duly seconded it was upon roll call unanimously VOTED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to purchase a steel filing cabinet for the use of the Town Clerk's records and that the cost thereof be a town charge. Upon motion the meeting adjourned at 11:30 P.M. Town Clerk.
