HomeMy WebLinkAbout1919_04_11 Town Board Minutes (2)Minutes of a Meeting of the Joint Tovm Board of the Town of Mamaroneck held April 11, 1919. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor George W. Burton at 9:15 P.M. The Clerk reported the following present: Supervisor Burton, Justices Collins, Boyd, Dudley and Shafer, John Hickey, Superintendent of Highways, John C. Fairchild, Town Clerk, and Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel. The Minutes of the Meeting of March 26th, 1919, were read and approved. Upon motion it was RESOLVED: That the regular order of business be sus- pended, and that any gentleman present who wished to address the Board be now heard. Mr. Brewer appeared and requested the report of the Committee appointed by the Town Board to investigate the matter of the drainage of the Weaver Street Fire House pro- perty. Engineer VanEtten appeared before the Board and pre- sented a diagram and a report with his recommendations. Upon motion it was RESOLVED that the report of Mr. VanEtten be re- ceived and placed on file. Upon motion it was RESOLVED that the Supervisor and Commissioner of Highways be authorized and empowered as a Committee to pro- ceed with the Drainage Improvement as suggested by the Board. Mr. Brewer appeared before the Board on behalf of the Larchmont Gardens Association and presented a petition re- questing that Counsel prepare a petition to be presented for signature to residents of Larchmont Gardens, requesting that said district be annexed to and included in the proposed Sewer District. Upon motion, Counsel was authorized to prepare the petition as requested. The Superintendent of Highways presented his Report which was read and upon motion it was RESOLVED: that the report be approved and filed, and is as follows: April 11th, 1919 To The Hon Town Board of Mamaroneck, Mamaroneck, N. Y. Gentlemen: I hereby report the followingg work on highways since March lst, 1919; Cleaned all catchbasins, leveled all ruts and filled all depressions, with road scraper, la ed 1'75 ft. of Conder sidewalk on Myrtle Ave. west of Chatsworth Ave. Raked and cleaned banks along Murray Ave. Removed shoulders and cleaned gutters on the following roads and streets: Fenimore Road, Old White Plains Road, Palmer Ave., Howell Ave., Carelton Ave., and Chestnut St. Unload 1 car of cinders, same spread on Chatsworth Ave. Respectfully submitted, John Hickey, Supt. of Highway. Superintendent Hickey presented the following estimates which he had procured for road oil and tarvia: The Barrett Company: Tarvia "A", "B", or "X" delivered and spread, 15 cents per gallon; Tarvia "A" or 'X", in barrels, carload lots, 14 1/2 cents per gallon f.o.b. factory. Barrels less than carload lots 17 cents per gallon f.o.b. New York. Tarvia "B in barrels, carload lots, 15 1/2 cents per gallon f.o.b. factory; 18 cents per gallon f.o.b. New York in barrels less than carload lots; Tarvia "KP", barrels, carload lots 16 1/2 cents per gallon f.o.b factory; in barrels less than carload lots 19 cents per gallon, f.o.b. New York. United States Asphalt Refining Company: Aztec 25%, 45%, or 60% asphalt road oil in tank cars of 8,000 gallon capacity, 7 1/2 cents per gallon f.o.b. Larchmont. Terms, 30 days net. Standard Oil Company of New York: Standard asphalt road oil No. 4 or standard liquid asphalt, delivered in tank cars f.o.b. Larch- mont or Mamaroneck, 6-8/10 cents per gallon. The same applied by pressure sprinklers 9-3/10 cents per gallon. Upon motion it was RESOLVED: That the Superintendent of Highways be authoriz- ed to purchase 50 barrels of Tarvia "B" at 18 cents per gallon f.o.b. factory, in accordance with his recommendation. Upon motion Counsel was requested to communicate with the Westchester Lighting Company regarding additional lighting in the woods of Larchmont. Upon motion the meeting adjourned at 11:30 P.M. Town Clerk.
