School House, December 18th 1918.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor George W .
Burton.
The following members of the Town Board were present:
Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd, Dudley and Shafer, John Hick, Supt.
of Highways, Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel.
Upon motion the call of the meeting was approved.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, George T.
Burton was elected Chairman of the meeting.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, Ralph A .
Gamble was elected Secretary.
The Chairman stated that the object of the meeting was to
discuss the question of creating a Garbage District and to provide
for the collection of ashes and garbage therein. The Chairman stated
that the meeting was open for the public consideration of the matter.
Dr. Carribean, President of the Woods of Larehmont Association spoke;
he stated that 100% of the people in the Woods were in favor of the
matter. Mr. Marshall, Vice President of the Chatsworth Heights
Association stated, that that Association was almost unanimously in
favor of the proposition.
William I. Palmer then spoke against the proposition.
Mr. Leamer asked Mr. Palmer what the sentiment of the
Neighborhood Improvement Association was at the last meeting.
Mr. Palmer stated the meeting voted in favor of the matter, though
he personally felt it was against their sentiments.
It was, however, stated that thy sentiment at the meeting
was unanimously in favor of the proposition.
Dr . Carribean spoke again.

Mr. Wilmore spoke in favor of the matter.
Judge Dudley and Messrs. Hann, Harris, Hutchins, all spoke
favorably of the proposed improvement. Mr. Mitchell Chew stated that
Dr. Carribean spoke with authority for their Association.
Mr. Brewer stated that he had received the approval of
the Larchmont Gardens Company.
Mr. Arnold spoke of the general approval of the proposition
in the Laxchmont Gardens Association.
The Chairman then asked for any objections to the proposition.
No one spoke in opposition .
Upon motion of Dr. Carribean, seconded by Mr. Arnold, it was
RESOLVED, that it is the sense of the meeting that it
approve of and hereby recommends to the Town Board the proposition
contained in the petitions and submitted at the Public Meeting that
the Town provide for the collection of ashes and garbage, and that the
Town Board take the necessary steps to create an ash and garbage
collection district to conform to the lines of Fire District No. 1;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board provide the ways and means
to carry the same into effect.
Upon a vote th o resolution was carried, all voting in the
affirmative but Mr. Palmer voting in the negative.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried the hearing
on ashes and garbage was declared closed, and Supervisor Burton
then stated that the meeting would discuss the Sewer matter.
Supervisor Burton spoke generally conoerning the Sewer
situation and stated that the necessary steps could not be taken
until petitions with a sufficient number of signers were presented
to the Town Board, and he urged the residents to have the petitions
circulated and signed.
Mr. Palmer, Mr. Hoffman and others spoke in favor of the
proposition.
Petitions were presented and were signed by a number of
the property owners in the District.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting
adjourned at 10:20 P.M.
