HomeMy WebLinkAbout1918_11_01 Town Board Minutes (2) Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck held November 1st, 1918 at 8:50 P.M. Supervisor Burton called the meeting to order. The Clerk reported the following present: Supervisor G. W. Burton, Justices Collins, Boyd and Dudley, J.C . Fairchild, Town Clerk, Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel. On motion the reading of the minutes of previous meetings not yet approved, was dispensed with. The Clerk submitted the report of the Receiver of Taxes for the month ending October 31st, 1918, which was read, and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was ordered filed, and is as follows : TOWN OF MAMARONECK Office of Receiver of Taxes T . To, Geo. W. Burton, Supervisor, Town of Mamaroneck, Mamaroneck, New York. H. Mc . G. Supervisor Burton submitted a report made by Miss Westover, District School Nurse, reporting on the cases under her charge during the influenza epidemic. Upon action of Justice Dudley, seconded by Justice Collins, it was RESOLVED, that it is the sense of the Town Board that a vote of thanks be given to Miss Westover for her efficient services and untiring efforts in behalf of the residents of the Town of Mamaroneck during the recent epidemic; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Miss Westover by the Town Clerk. Supervisor Burton submitted a letter from Charles Heffner aNing for a certificate of cancellation of the Tax Sale List on Lot 7, Map of Chatsworth Avenue, on the grounds that there had been an error in the sales book of 1883. Upon Notion the matter was referred to Counsellor Gamble with instructions to take the matter up with Mr. Heffner. The Supervisor submitted a communication from Merriam & Rumsey enclosing a petition of Ellen Valentine asking for the cancella- tion of certain Taxes from 1876 to date on certain lots , on the grounds that the taxes were invalid . Upon motion duly seconded and carried, the petition was denied and the matter referred, to Counsellor Gamble with instructions to communicate with the interested parties, and to negotiate a settle- ment if possible. On motion the Board adjourned at 9:35 P.M. Town Clerk.
