HomeMy WebLinkAbout1918_10_04 Town Board Minutes (2) Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck held October 4th, 1918 at 8:40 P.M. Supervisor Burton called the meeting to order. The Clerk reported the following present: Supervisor Burton, Justices Collins, Boyd, Dudley, Shafer, Town Clerk Fairchild, Counselor Gamble. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the reading of minutes of previous meetings not yet approved was dispensed with The Reports of the Receiver of Taxes for the months ending August 31st and September 30th were presented and read to the Board by Clerk Fairchild; and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, each was approved and ordered filed and made a part of these minutes and is as follows: TOWN OF MAMARONECK Office of Receiver of Taxes T. To the Honorable, The Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck, Mamaroneck, N.Y. A communication received from Deputy Receiver of Taxes, Harry T . YcGivney, was read recommending to the Board that Clark, Close & Davis of White Plains, be reimbursed in the sum of fifteen dollars, the amount paid by them for School Taxes on Lot #8, Block E, Woodbine Park, Larchmont, N.Y., which taxes had previously been paid by J.H. Kelly. The same upon notion was ordered spread upon the minutes and is as follows: Receiver of State, County, Town and School Taxes TOWN OF MAMARONECK New York Office of Receiver of Taxes 8 Elm Street Mamaroneck, N. Y. T. Palmer Howell, Receiver H. T. McGivney, Deputy Receiver , October 4th, 1918 . To the Town board of the Town of Mamaroneck: I hereby certify that I have examined the Tax Sales Book and Assessment Roll of the Town of Mamaroneck for the year 1910 and find that the 1910 School Taxes assessed against lot #8, Block E, Woodbine Park, Larchmont, New York were paid on April 28th, 1911, by J. H. Kelly and on September 28th, 1918 by Clark, Close and Davis. The amount paid by Clark Close & Davis is $15.00 and recommend that the same be refunded . Very respectfully yours, Deputy Receiver of Taxes. On motion made by Justice Shafer, duly seconded by Justice Dudley, it was resolved that, WHEREAS, it appears from the foregoing report of the Deputy Receiver of Taxes that the sum of $15.00 was overpaid to the Town of Mamaroneck upon the 1910 School Taxes against Lot #8, Block E, Woodbine Park, Larchmont, New York, and that the said amount was again paid by Clark, Close & Davis, Attorneys; and WHEREAS, receipted tax bills covering these two payments have been offered to the members of the Town Board for inspection, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to refund the aforesaid amount of $15 .00 heretofore paid to Clark, Close and Davis. The Clerk was directed to note upon the minuted of the meet- ing the appearance of Mr. Michael Hannan in regard to an existing nuisance on the property of Mrs. Vivian of Dillon Park. After Mr. Hannan had been heard by the Board, it was upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, RESOLVED, that the Clerk be instructed to notify the Town Health Officer of the alleged existing nuisance caused by cess-pool on the property of Mrs. Vivian, Dillon Park, and that he be authorized and empowered to take the necessary steps to have the nuisance abated forthwith . The matter of the petitions asking for the creation of an Ash And Gargage District and the removal of same by the Town was re- ferred to Counsel for recommendation. On motion the meeting adjourned at 10:20 P.M. to meet on Tuesday, October 8th, 1918. Town Clerk.
