HomeMy WebLinkAbout1918_08_26 Town Board Minutes (2) Special Meeting of the Town Board, Town of Mamaroneck, held August 26, 1918 at 8:45 P.M. Supervisor Burton called the meeting to order. The Clerk reported the following present: Supervisor Burton, Justices Collins, Boyd and Dudley, John C. Fairchuld, Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel. On motion of Justice Dudley, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was RESOLVED, that the reading of the minutes of previous meetings not yet approved, be dispensed with. Supervisor Burton submitted a financial report for the month of July, which was read, and upon motion it was ordered filed, and is as follows: Office of the Supervisor Town of Mamaroneck Eight Elm Street George W. Burton Mamaroneck, New York. Supervisor. August 1st, 1918. Gentlemen:- Permit me to submit herewith my report for the month of July, 1918, to wit:- Balance on hand on July 1st, 1918, $28,551.02 Deposited by Receiver of Taxes, $9,051.37 Received from P.H. Collins, Justice, fines, 25.00 Received from William A. Boyd, Justice, fines 7.50 Received from State Excise Dep't Volume excise tax, 10.43 Received from County Treasurer, Highway State aid, 3,368.68 22,515.37 Total amount received, $51,066.39 Payments:- Audited claims, $2,392.82 County Treasurer's ac/ 1,919.80 Highway fund, Item #1, 1,199.07 " " " #3, 17.50 " " " #4, 127.68 Salary account, 1,269.15 Total amount paid during this month, 6,926.02 Balance on hand this day, $44,140.37 Highway fund, $21,629.70 General fund, 22,510.67 $44,140.37 Respectfully submitted, Supervisor To the Honorable, The Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck, Mamaroneck, N.Y. A Committee from the Weaver Street Fire Company being present, on motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was RESOLVED that the regular order of business be suspended, and that the Committee be heard, Capt. McGiveney spoke on behalf of the Committee, and asked that the recommendations of the Weaver Street Fire Company be taken up at this tire, which was done. Upon motion of Justice Boyd seconded by Justice Collins it was RESOLVED that the hearing be closed and that the regular order of business be taken up . The Supervisor reported that bids had been received for the purchase of new fire hose. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was RESOLVED that the Board proceed to open the bids submitted. The following bids were received: The Fabric Fire Hose Company, letter dated August 23, 1918, Boston Toven nose Company, submitted three samples with prices attached, Paramount Special at $1.05 per ft. Bay State Jacket " 1.10 " " Boston Fire Jacket, 1 .15 " " Wood House Manufacturing Company, Wax and Gun treated hose at $1.20 Less 10% discount. Eureka Hose Company, Blue Diamond at $1.15 High Pressure " 1 .03 Paragon " 1.40 On motion of Justice Dudley seconded by Justice Boyd it was RESOLVED that the matter be referred to Executive Session. The matter being taken up in Executive Session, it was, upon motion of Justice Collins seconded by Justice Boyd RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and directed to purchase 1200 feet of High Pressure Hose from the United States Rubber Company (Eureka Hose Manufacturing Company) in accordance with the terms and conditions recited in the bid of the United States Rubber Company (on behalf of the Eureka hose Manufactur- ing Company) dated August 26th, 1918. Upon motion of Justice Boyd seconded by Justice Dudley, it was RESOLVED that the appointment of Inspectors of Election be taken up at a Special Meeting of the Board to be held Friday, August 30th, 1918 . Upon motion the meeting adjourned at 10: 15 P.M. Town Clerk.
