August 21, 1918 held at 7 P,M.
Supervisor Burton called the meeting to order.
Clerk Fairchild reported the following present: Supervisor
Burton, Justices, Collins, Boyd and Dudley, J.C. Fairchild, Town
Clerk, Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel.
Supervisor Burton stated that the purpose of the meeting was
to hear the report of the Weaver Street Fire Committee, and also the
report of the National Board of Fire Underwriters, upon the recent
test of the new fire apparatus , and to pass on the acceptance of the
apparatus and matters pertaining to the equipment of the Weaver Street
Fire House.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the call of the
meeting was approved.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the reading of
the minutes of previous meetings not yet approved, was dispensed with.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the regular order
of business was dispensed with.
Supervisor Burton presented the report of the Weaver Street
Fire Committee, which was read, and upon motion duly made, seconded
and carried, it was
RESOLVED, that the report of the Weaver Street Fire Com-
mittee concerning apparatus and matters pertaining to the Fire House
be received and placed on file.
Supervisor Burton presented the report of the National
Board of Fire Underwriters , which was read.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the same was
received and ordered placed on file.
On motion of Justice Collins, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was
RESOLVED, that: Whereas the Report of National Board of Fire
Underwriters has been received, dated August 19, 1918, and whereas
the test of the American LaFrance Fire Apparatus has proven satisfactory;
and
Whereas, the Town Board has received the report of the
Weaver Street Fire Committee dated August 19, 1918, recommending the
acceptance of the American LaFrance sire Apparatus as delivered,
subject however to the correction of minor details in the specifica-
tions pertaining only to the equipment; and
Whereas the equipment referred to in this report of the
Weaver Street Fire Committee has since been received,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Town Board does hereby
authorize and direct the acceptance of said apparatus and that the
Supervisor be and he is hereby authorized and directed to conclude
such acceptance in accordance with the terms of the contract and
agreement dated May 8, 1918; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the said apparatus be put in
service forthwith, or as soon thereafter as possible.
Upon motion of Justice Dudley, seconded by Justice Boyd,
it was
RESOLVED that the Supervisor be authorized and directed to
continue such work as he deems necessary to complete the Weaver
Street Fire House as outlined by him to the Board at the meeting of
August 21, 1918.
Upon nation duly made, seconded and carried the meeting
duly adjourned at 8 P.M.
