HomeMy WebLinkAbout1918_06_25 Town Board Minutes (2) 17 Special Meeting of the Town Board, Town of Mamaroneck, held on June 25th, 1918 at 8:05 P.M. Supervisor Burton called the meting to order. The Clerk reported the following present: Supervisor George W, Barton, Justices Collins, Boyd, Dudley and Sharer, John C, Fairchild, Town Clerk and Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel. Upon motion of Justice Shafer, seconded by Justice Boyd, it was resolved that the call of the meeting be approved. Upon motion of Justice Dudley seconded by Justice Shafer, it was resolved that the reading of the minuted of the previous meetings not yet approved be dispensed with. Counsellor Gamble then reported on the matter of the issue of $10,000 - 5% Bonds and stated that H. A. Kahlar & Company whose bid for the bonds has been accepted and to whom said bonds had been awarded had conferred with him and had presented a form of resolution which they desired passed by the Town Board and which he recommended to the Board for consideration. . Upon motion of Justice Dudley, seconded by Justice Boyd , it was, by a vote of all membere of the Town Board present , unanimously RESOLVED: WHEREAS, on the 6th day of Decanter, 1917, the Town Board at a regular meeting adopted a resolution providing for the issuance and sale of $10,000 Fire bonds of said Town, in the denomination of $2,000 each, and fixed the form of said bonds, and WHEREAS, it is desirable to amend the form of said bonds and to issue the same in the denomination of $1,000 each . RESOLVED, that said $10,000 Fire Bonds be issued in she denomination of $1,000 each, numbered from 1 to 10, both inclusive, maturing in numerical order, two bonds on the first day of July in each of the years 1919 and 1923, both inclusive , and it is further RESOLVED, that said bonds be issued in substantially the following form, to-wit: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA STATE OF NEW YORK TOWN OF MAMARONECK FIRE BOND No. $1, 000. KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, that the Town of Mamaroneck, it the County of Westchester and State of New York, for value received, hereby acknowledges itself indebted and promises to pay to the bearer, the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1 ,000) on the first day of July, 19, together with interest thereon at the rate of five per centum per annum, payable semi-annually on the first days of January and July, upon presentation and surrender of the annexed interest coupons as they severally become due ; both principal and interest being payable in gold coin of the United States of America of the present standard weight and fineness, or its equivalent, at the First National Bank, Mamaroneck N .Y., in the Village and Torn. of Mamaroneck, Westchester County, State of New York, in New York Exchange . This bond is one of a series of bonds aggregating the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000) of like date and tenor, except as to date of maturity and is issued for the purpose of purchasing a fire engine, apparatus and equipment, and acquiring a suitable building for keeping and storing the same, for the ex- tinguishment of fires in Fire, Lighting and Water Supply District No. 1 of the Town of Mamaroneck, N. Y., in full compliance with the Constitution and statutes of the State of New York, including among others, Section 313 and 313a of Article 14 of the Town Law, and pursuant to resolutions of the town board duly adopted on December 6, 1917, and June 25th, 1918 . It is hereby certified, recited and declared that this bond is a charge upon said Town of Mamaroneck and that provi- sion has been made for the levy upon the property within said Fire, Lighting and Water Supply District No. 1 of said Town of the amount necessary to pay said bonds and the interest thereon as the same become due; and that all acts, conditions and things required to be don; , precedent to and in the issuance of this bond have been duly done and performed as required by law, and that the full faith and credit of said Town are hereby irrevocably pledged for the payment of said bonds and interest. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said Town of Mamaroneck has caused these presents to be signed by its supervisor and attested by the town clerk, and the corporate seal of said town to be hereto affixed and the interest coupons hereto annexed to be signed with the lithographed or engraved facsimile signature of said supervisor, and this bond to be dated as of the first day of July, 1918. Y., will pay to the bearer the sum of Twenty Five Dollars ($25.00) in gold coin of the United States of America of the present standard weight and fineness, or its equivalent , at the First National Bank, Mamaroneck, N. Y., in New York Exchange , being six months interest then due on its Fire Bond, dated July 1, 1918, No. Supervisor. FURTHER RESOLVED, that in all other respects the said resolution adopted December 6, 1917, be and the same hereby is ratified, confirmed and approved.
