HomeMy WebLinkAbout1918_06_21 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board Torn of Mamaroneck, held June 21st , 1918. Supervisor Burton called the meeting to order. The clerk reported the following present: George T. Burton, Supervisor, Justices Collins, Boyd, Dudley and Shafer, John C. Fairchild, Town Clerk and Ralph A. Gamble, Counsel. On notion duly made, seconded and carried, the reading of the minutes of the previous meetings not yet approved was dispensed with. The clerk read a communication from C. M. Baxter, Jr., Esq. attorney for the Union Savings Bank concerning a tax matter in connection with the Estate of Edgar G. Byrnes. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the matter was referred to counsel for his consideration. The clerk read a communication from Mr. T. Palmer Howell, Receiver of Taxes, enclosing a communication which he had received from Milne, Blake, Mc Aneny & Durham, concerning a double payment of taxes which had been made by the Estate of William H. Ferris . Upon motion duly made , seconded and carried, it was RESOLVED that the matter be referred to counsel; and be it further resolved that if counsel determines that the facts are as stated and finds authority for the repayment, that in that event the Supervisor be and he herewith is authorized and empowered to make the proper refund . Supervisor Burton reported that he had received a communication from the Westchester Fighting Company and also had had conferences with certain officers concerning the extension of the gas mains in Larchmont Gardens . Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the communication was ordered placed on file . Engineer VanEtten was present and addressed the Board concerning the progress he had made in connection with the Town of Mamaroneck sewer matter . On motion duly made, seconded and carried, it was RESOLVED that the Supervisor, Commissioner of Highways and Counsel attend a meeting of the Village Trustees of the Village of Larchmont on Monday evening, June 24th, 1918 for the purpose of conferring on the report made by the State Engineer . Superintendent Hickey reported that his attention had been called to the erection of two large sign boards at Dillon Pack on the Boston Post Road. After discussion, the matter was referred to the Supervisor and Superintendent of Highways to act in such manner as they considered intheir judgment was for the interests of the Town. Town Clerk I
