Purpose The purpose of this local law is to amend the definition of parking space in the Town's Zoning Ordinance so as to allow for additional parking at multi-family residences in recognition of the reduction in size of cars in general since the adoption of the Town Zoning Ordinance in 1959 and the substantially smaller number of trips generated by residential as opposed to commercial parking lots. 2. Section 89-3 shall be amended as follows: "Parking Space - An off-street space availabe .for parking of one (1) motor vehicle on a transient basis having dimensions of not less than nine by twenty feet (9' X 20') exclusive of passage ways and driveways appurtenant thereto and giving access thereto and having direct usable street access to a street or alley except that ninety (90%) percent of parking spaces appurtenant to multi-family uses containing three (3) or more dwelling units shall have a minimum dimension of not less than eight and one-half by eighteen feet (8j' X 18') .” 3.
