This local law shall be known as the "Regulation of Idling Motor Vehicles in the Town of
Mamaroneck" Law.
BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck
Section 1 - Purpose:
The Town Board finds that the extended idling of motor vehicles on public and private property in
the Town increases exhaust emissions and endangers the health, safety, and welfare of Town
residents and visitors to the Town. The Town Board has determined that reducing the period of
time during which motor vehicles may idle will reduce the amount of pollutants emitted into the
atmosphere.

of New York, the County of Westchester, the Town of Mamaroneck, the Mamaroneck Union Free

apply to any independent contractor engaged by any of the entities described in the preceding
sentence while such independent contractor is carrying out the business activity for which it was
engaged by one or more of the entities.

less.
D. This law shall not apply in situations where a vehicle is exempt from the requirements of
Subpart 217-3 of Title 6 of the New York Codes, Rules, and Regulations.
Section 3 - Severability:
