HomeMy WebLinkAbout2008_07_14 Town Board Minutes Minutes of the Special Town Board Meeting held July 14, 2008 at 3:OOpm in Conference Room A Mamaroneck Town Center The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 3:OOpm Attending: Supervisor Valerie O'Keeffe Councilwoman Phyllis Wittner Councilwoman Nancy Seligson Councilman David Fishman Also Attending; Town Administrator Stephen Altieri Councilman Ernie Odierna was on vacation Resolution — Community Development Block Grant Application Senior Center Rehabilitation The Town Administrator reported that the original resolution adopted by the Town Board endorsing the CDBG application required revision and re-adoption by the Town Board. In the revised resolution the amount of the grant request and the amount of the Town's contribution to the project must be included. On motion of Councilwoman Wittner, seconded by Councilman Odierna, the following was approved. WHEREAS, Westchester County Department of Planning will be accepting applications for Community Development Block Grant funding for the years 2009–2011; and WHEREAS, the Town of Mamaroneck will submit two applications; one for renovations for the operation of the Senior Center for the 2010 grant year and one for the VFW site, in relation to the development of affordable housing in conjunction with the Senior Center for the 2011 grant year; and WHEREAS, required by the Community Development Block Grant funding program the Town of Mamaroneck held a Public Hearing on July 14, 2008. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Mamaroneck hereby directs Stephen V. Altieri, Town Administrator, to submit an application for funds in the amount of $200,000 from the Westchester County Planning Department in accordance with the provisions of Title 1 of the United States Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 for the Mamaroneck Senior Center Rehabilitation Project; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Town of Mamaroneck hereby agrees to contribute $185,000 towards the total cost of the project and be it further resolved that upon approval of said request the Town Administrator is hereby authorized to enter into and execute a project agreement with the County of Westchester for financial assistance to the Town for the Mamaroneck Senior Center Rehabilitation Project. The vote was as follows: Supervisor O'Keeffe Aye Councilwoman Wittner Aye Councilwoman Seligson Aye Councilman Fishman Aye Executive Session The Town Administrator requested that the Town Board adjourn into executive session to discuss matters of employment history. On motion by Councilwoman Wittner and second by Councilwoman Seligson, it was unanimously Resolved, that the Town Board adjourn into executive session to discuss matters of employment history There being no further business upon adjournment of the executive session, the regular meeting was adjourned at 4:45pm.
