HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995_11_01 Town Board Minutes MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK AND THE BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS HELD ON NOVEMBER 1, 1995 AT 7:30 PM IN CONFERENCE ROOM A OF THE TOWN CENTER, 740 W. BOSTON POST ROAD, MAMARONECK, NEW YORK PRESENT: Supervisor Elaine Price Dep. Supervisor Kathleen O’Flinn Councilman Paul Ryan Councilwoman Valerie O’Keeffe Councilman Barry Weprin ALSO PRESENT: Stephen V. Altieri, Town Administrator CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by Supervisor Elaine Price The Supervisor indicated that the purpose of this meeting was a budget worksession to discuss the preliminary report on the Hommocks Ice Rink and the Police and Fire Department operating budgets. Hommocks Ice Rink Report The Board reviewed the feasibility study prepared by ICE Consultants. The report evaluated the modifications necessary to operate the ice rink on a twelve month basis. Also the report evaluated improvements to the facility that would allow alternate programming between May and September. The report identifies estimated costs for a variety of options for both alternative use of the rink during the spring and summer months. The Board requested additional information on expected operating cost for both alternatives. Police Department Operating Budget Chief Richard Rivera and Lt. Robert Koziak appeared before the Board to review their proposed 1996 budget. There was discussion regarding the overtime expenditure and means of reducing overtime in the department. The Chief will review police call data to determine the impact of staffing changes that might reduce overtime. The Chief also reviewed with the Board proposed equipment replacements and programs in the department in 1996. Fire Department Operating Budget Chief Joseph Mirabella appeared before the Board for the budget review. The Chief reviewed proposed expenditures for the department for 1996. Specifically, the staffing of the department was discussed and the impact on the department of overtime expenses.
