Mamaroneck held on Wednesday November 12, 1997 at 7:30 AM
in Conference Room A of the Mamaroneck Town Center
The Town Supervisor called the meeting to order at 7:30 AM.
The Board convened into an Special Budget Work Session at 7:30 AM in Conference
Room A of the Town Center to review the budgets of the Police and Fire Departments.
Present: Supervisor Elaine Price
Dep. Sup. Paul Ryan
Councilwoman Phyllis Wittner
Councilman Barry Weprin
Councilwoman Valerie O'Keeffe
Also Present: Stephen Altieri Town, Administrator
Richard Rivera, Chief of Police
Robert Koziak, Police Lieutenant
Frank Cioffi, Fire Chief
Michael Acocella, Deputy Fire Chief
The Chief presented the proposed 1998 budget for the Police Department. Specific
topics of discussion were the proposed replacement of the telephone recording device at
the front desk; the breakdown of overtime expenditures during 1997; and the
replacement of police vehicles.
In connection with the discussion of the overtime budget, the Board reviewed with the
Chief and the Town Administrator collective bargaining issues for the upcoming
negotiations with the Police Benevolent Association.
There was also discussion regarding the recently completed report prepared by the New
York State Division of Criminal Justice on potential opportunities for shared services with
the Village of Larchmont. Based upon the discussion the consensus was that there
would be no direct impact upon the 1998 Town Budget.
Fire Department Budget
The Fire Chief appeared before the Board and reviewed his proposed budget for 1998.
There was discussion regarding the appropriation for tax refunds and for liability
insurance.
The Town Administrator clarified these matters for the Board. The Chief submitted a
proposed capital improvement program for the Fire Department for the next five years.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further matters to be discussed by the Board, the meeting was adjourned
at 9:00 AM.
