Robson, Town Administrator Re: Complete Streets Concepts Resolution Date: January 19, 2024 Attached is a resolution requesting that the New York State Department of Transportation ("N.YS.D.O.T") incorporate complete streets concepts for PIN 8473.15 - resurfacing of Route 1 between the City of New Rochelle and the City of Rye. This project will develop a complete streets concept for US Route 1 Possible improvements may include improved sidewalks, additional curb extensions, traffic signal upgrades, and roadway improvements. This resolution was discussed at the February 28th Traffic Committee meeting and received support for its passage. The bid opening is expected in the summer of 2026 and construction is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2028. The following resolution is presented for your consideration should you choose to support the N.Y.S.D.O.T. complete streets concept. The Town, itself, will not be part of this project. Action Requested: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mamaroneck Town Board requests that the New York State Department of Transportation incorporate the design of complete streets concepts for the entirety of the Route 1 corridor to enhance vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian safety for those residing, visiting, and traversing the Town of Mamaroneck and neighboring communities; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town of Mamaroneck forward a copy of this resolution to the Town's State elected officials, State Assemblyman Steve Otis and State Senator Shelly Mayer, for their information and entreat them for any assistance they can provide in effectuating this request. NOW,THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mamaroneck Town Board requests that the New York State Department of Transportation incorporate the design of complete streets concepts for the entirety of the Route 1 corridor to enhance vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian safety for those residing, visiting, and traversing the Town of Mamaroneck and neighboring communities; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town of Mamaroneck forward a copy of this resolution to the Town's State elected officials, State Assemblyman Steve Otis and State Senator Shelly Mayer, for their information and entreat them for any assistance they can provide in effectuating this request.
