MEETING MINUTES
May 9, 2023

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting held at the Senior Center; 1288 Boston Post Road was called to order at 7:00
P.M. by Chairman Druker.
ACCEPTANCE OF MEETING MINUTES:
On a motion by Chairman Druker, seconded by Commissioner Sigel, the Meeting Minutes of
April 18, 2023, were unanimously approved as submitted.
SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE:
Ms. Fisher reported the following:
1 . Summer program registration is ongoing. Current registration numbers as of May 4th
are as follows:
Teen Travel:
Session 1 40
Session 2 35
Hommocks Camp: 204
Morning Drop Off 81

Camp Rockingstone 44
Swim Team 35
2. Many of our spring programs are now underway with the following enrollment:
Swim Lessons 128

Pre Ballet and Mommy & Me 71

Adult Fitness 52
3. The final session of Skating School will begin on May 5th. We have a total of 140
enrolled in the program.
4. A copy of the May Newsletter was enclosed for review.
5. A copy of the rink attendance numbers for the month of April was enclosed for
review.
6. The last public session for the 2022 — 2023 season at the ice rink is on Sunday, June
11 to

SUPERINTENDENT'S UPDATE CONTINUED:
7. Again, this summer, the ice rink will be offering Ball Hockey in cooperation with the
New York Rangers.
8. The Freestyle skating program concludes on Sunday, June 11th. There was a total of
20 participants in the spring session.
9. The kayaking program in cooperation with the Village of Mamaroneck will begin on
May 21st
10.The 7th Annual 5K Run and Lil' Bunny Hop was held on Sunday, April 23rd. There
was a total of 427 participants with this being our largest enrollment yet.
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate, and the race day attendance was lower
than anticipated with 209 runners participating.
11 .The pool lawn was fertilized and seeded for the summer. The summer hours will
begin on Saturday, June 17th
12.The Ice Breaker Hockey Tournament was held April 27th — 30th. A total of 15 teams
participated, including a game played between the Mother Puckers. Mr. Dan Demasi
would like to expand the event to host additional women's hockey teams. Ms. Fisher
will share the net revenue with the Commission, once she has received the final
numbers.
13.Two new 85" TV's have been installed at the ice rink. The funding for this project
came out of the Ice Rink Trust Fund. Photos were enclosed.
14.Court #4 at Memorial Park Tennis Courts will have time set aside for open pickleball
play.
15.Once the weather and temperatures improve, the repairs to the tennis court surfaces,
and painting of pickleball lines under the tunnel will be scheduled. Ms. Fisher will
keep the Commission updated on this work.
16.Photos of the progress on the Memorial Park Playground, and the new safety surface
at the Richbell Road Apartment Complex Playground were enclosed. A ribbon
cutting ceremony will be planned for early June.
17.The Town of Mamaroneck has yet to receive the report from Woodard and Curran
regarding the feasibility of developing the Hommocks Fields. Once received, the
report will be shared with the Recreation Commission at a joint meeting with the
Town Board.
18. Fields For Kids is also in preliminary discussions to construct a playground for
students in the back parking lot of the Hommocks Middle School. Part of this lot is
Town owned and used for parking by those using the fields and rink. This too will be
discussed at the joint meeting.
19.Chairman Druker provided some information regarding an additional option to regular
turf for the Hommocks Fields. ProGreen's Coolplay Turf is an alternative turf material
that is cooler to play on. Material on this product was distributed at the meeting.
WESTCHESTER COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH:
The Westchester County Health Department held a meeting to amend Article XII, Sect.
873.1203, Bathing Facilities, Swimming Pool, Sap Pools, and Wading Pools: Supervision of
unattended children at pool facilities.
• Children less than 14 years of age must at all times be accompanied by a parent
or legal guardian or similar adult responsible for their safety and behavior while in
the pool area.
The current age for unaccompanied minors is age 13. This amendment will be voted on May
18th, and if passed, will go into effect for this summer season.

REQUEST FROM VILLAGE OF LARCHMONT AND CO-OP CAMP FOR SUMMER POOL
USAGE:
Annual requests for pool usage this summer have been received from the Village of Larchmont
(Flint Park Camp) and STEM Alliance (Co-Op Camp). The Commission unanimously approved
all requests.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the Commission, on a motion by Chairman
Druker, seconded by Commissioner Gutter, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
