HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023_05_04 Traffic Committee Minutes 1 471 MINUTES oa Traffic Committee Meeting .#_ z Thursday, May 4, 2023 Courtroom, Second Floor of Town Center 7:00 PM FOUNDED 1661 • PRESENT: Doris Block, Chair Camile Odierna, Committee Member Kimberly Larsen, Committee Member Virginia Picciotto, Committee Member Robert Blaufarb,Committee Member Matthew Wrzesniewsky, Committee Member ABSENT: Ilana Bronheim, Committee Member OTHERS PRESENT: Abby Katz, Councilwoman Connie Green O'Donnell, Deputy Town Administrator James Maher, Executive Lieutenant The Traffic Committee will convene in the Court Room located on the second floor at the Town Center at 7:00 pm. Old Business: 1. 2 Madison Avenue The Traffic Committee discussed the 2 Madison Avenue, a proposed project that a Planning Board referral for their input. The Committee expressed their concern about the drop off and pick up of children frequenting the studio. The Zoning Board did grant a variance to the property owner with respect to parking. The owners of the property are currently looking for other tenants. Chair Block stated that there may be more traffic at drop off/pick up of children from the studio. The Traffic Committee agreed that the proposed track would be a problem for the area. Chair Block said that the Traffic Committee requested a traffic study to be completed, the attorney for the 2 Madison Avenue Project, responded that he was aware of the requirement. Chair Block said the study should focus on the drop off of children. It was confirmed that there would be 16 parking spaces. The Traffic Committee again confirmed they want the traffic study to focus on the drop off of the children. New Business: 1. Bike Lane Presentation Michael Smeets addressed the Traffic Committee with a Bike Lane Presentation. He noted that bike lanes increase safety, there has been a decline in driving since the pandemic. The Traffic Committee did comment that bike lanes are being addressed as a part of the Comprehensive Plan. They also suggested that bikes install lights so they can be seen more easily on the road. The Traffic Committee then reviewed the NYU Capstone Reports from 2011/2012 and the Town's Bike Routes Report from 2017. Reports of Minutes: 1.
