HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004_01_29 Town Board Minutes MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK HELD ON JANUARY 29, 2004 AT 7:00 PM IN THE SENIOR CENTER OF THE TOWN CENTER, 740 W. BOSTON POST ROAD, MAMARONECK, NEW YORK PRESENT: Supervisor Valerie M. O'Keeffe Councilwoman Phyllis Wittner Councilwoman Judith A. Myers Councilman Ernest C. Odierna Councilwoman Nancy Seligson ALSO PRESENT: Town Administrator Stephen Altieri Town Attorney William Maker, Jr. Assistant to Town Administrator Mary Stanton Town Planning Consultant Frank Fish CALL TO ORDER The special meeting of the Town Board was called to order by Supervisor O'Keeffe at 7:00 PM. Federal Grant Program - Congresswoman Nita Lowey The Town Administrator reviewed with the Town Board the program offered by Congresswoman Lowey to provide funding for local projects. The Town Administrator reviewed with the Town Board proposed items for which grants will be sought. • New Control Panel - Myrtle Boulevard Sewer Pump Station • Public Safety Equipment - Fire Department/Ambulance Service • Traffic Signal - Madison Avenue @ 1-95 The Town Board agreed upon the proposed grant applications and directed the Town Administrator to prepare and submit the applications. Forest City Daly Proposed Apartment Development The Town Board reviewed the proposal and those impacts which appear to be of greatest importance to the Town. Specifically discussed were the following items: 1. Parking in the proposed development. 2. Current shortage of parking in the Washington Square area. 3. Traffic on Madison Avenue, Myrtle Boulevard, specifically at the intersection of the 1-95 ramp exit, Madison Avenue, and New Jefferson Street. 4. The number of workforce housing units to be included in the development. 5. Impacts of construction on adjacent streets and sidewalks. The Town Board directed that the Town Administrator, Town Attorney, and Planning Consultant arrange to meet with Forest City Daly to further explore these issues.
