Garit Lane – Eliminate overnight parking: Residents from Garit Lane spoke in support of the request to eliminate overnight parking on their street. The resident of 2 Garit Lane strongly wanted to pursue residential parking permits from New York State. Doris Block explained that it is a difficult and lengthy process. The Committee is in favor of recommending to the Town Board that overnight parking be eliminated on Garit Lane. Abby Katz explained if the Town Board was in agreement a Public Hearing would be required. Jason Lane – Request for signage and reduce speed limit: Doris Block requested that the Police Department conduct a speed survey. Anthony Forma informed Lt. Maher that the best time to observe the speeding is between 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Doris Block advised Anthony Forma that he will be apprised of the outcome and the topic will be on the next Traffic Committee meeting agenda for discussion. Harrison Drive – Vehicles traveling in excess of speed limit: A resident was present to explain that the curve where Harrison Drive meets Woods Way is the area of concern. He requested a stop sign in the area and explained that vehicles are not travelling at 30 mph (the speed limit) but still going too fast for the degree of the curve. There is no shoulder or sidewalk so anyone who is walking is in the street. Lt. Maher suggested possibly adding chevron arrows. Doris Block suggested potentially adding a sharp curve sign. Doris Block advised the resident that the Committee would take another look at the area to determine what control measures would be effective in reducing speed. Alden Road – Request for additional overnight parking: The Committee acknowledged there is a parking issue. However, this item was deferred to the next meeting due to the resident who requested the review, was not able to attend. Weaver Street – (near Bonnie Briary Country Club and near Saints John and Paul School) Vehicles traveling in excess of speed limit: Doris Block lead into this item by stating that Weaver Street is a New York State road and we have no authority to post any signage without their permission. Residents at 287 Weaver Street, near Saints John and Paul School, were present to express their concerns about speeding in a school zone. Lt. Abby Katz said she would reach out to Assemblyman Steve Otis for assistance. Residents from 707 Weaver Street were also present to discuss speeding on Weaver Street near Bonnie Briar Country Club. Lt. Maher advised he will ask the DOT if a speed box can be placed on this street.
