HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021_02_08 Racial Equity Taskforce Minutes Minutes of the Racial Equity Task Force of the Town of Mamaroneck Held February 8, 2021 at 7:00 pm, via Zoom Present: Jeffery King (Town Council member, Chairman), Sabrina Fiddelman (Town Council member), Helen Horsham-Bertels, Diana Lovett, Lynne Murphy-Rivera, Andrew Tannenbaum, Gonzalo Zeballos, Steve Altieri (Town Administrator) and Paul Creazzo (Chief of Police) Chairman King called the meeting to order. New Business 1. Review and Completion – List of Recommendations TMPD Areas of Concentration The Task Force continued its review of the recommendations to be included in the report to the Governor. We began with the section on Training as edited during the week by Ms. Bertels. Subsequently, we finished our work on the Further Recommendations and Follow Up sections. It was determined that two additional categories would be added in order to make specific recommendations and requests of larger jurisdictions-Westchester County and New York State. It was further agreed that several of the suggestions in the Further Recommendations and Follow Up sections don’t belong in a report on the Police Department but would be held for use/consideration in the on-going work of the Task Force. The Task Force looked back at several previously edited sections to tighten them up and make them work with the newly edited recommendations. It was agreed to forward this final draft of recommendations to the Town Administrator for inclusion in the report. Mr. Altieri noted that he has an outline of the report. He will forward that to the Task Force in the morning for comments. Westchester County will release its recommendations tomorrow. We are anxious to see how they will impact the local Police Department and these recommendations. Although we are a bit behind the initial calendar, we have sufficient time to complete the report. Mr. Altieri will send the Task Force an amended timetable as soon as possible. Report of Minutes 1. Review 2/01/2021 Meeting Minutes The minutes of this meeting were approved. The next meeting of the Racial Equity Task Force will be February 15 at 7:00pm via Zoom. Chairman King adjourned the meeting.
