TOWN OF MAMARONECK,
held, November 1st, 1922.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor
Burton at 10.35 P.M.
PRESENT: Supervisor Burton,
Justices Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Shafer,
Clerk Sherman,
Counsellor Gamble.
Upon motion it was voted to dispense with the
reading of minutes of meetings not yet approved.
A communication from the Weaver Street Fire Company
was received and read requesting that attention be given to
the cesspool at the Fire House and also the purchase of six
brooms for the extinguishing of brush fires. The communication
was ordered received and placed on file and it was upon ROLL
CALL,
VOTED, that the Town Clerk be author-
ized and empowered to have the cess-
pool taken care of and to purchase
the brooms as requested.
Counsel reported that he had taken up the Norris
tax matter with the Board of Assessors relating to the
erroneous assessment for sewer purposes. Upon his recommendation
the following resolution was presented and upon ROLL CALL,
unanimously adopted.
WHEREAS, the property of F. L. Norris,
Section 1, Block 20 has been assessed
for sewer tax in Sewer District #1
of the Town of Mamaroneck, and said
tax had been paid, and
WFEREAS, the said Norris has made a
claim for refund of said tax so paid,
on the grounds that his property is
not within Sewer District #1 and there-
fore not liable to an assessment of
tax, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Assessors have
reported to this Board that the afore-
said property of F. L. Norris is not
within said Sewer District #1 of the
Town of Mamaroneck and not liable for
assessment and that the said Norris is
therefore entitled to the refund, there-
fore be it
RESOLVED; that the Supervisor be and he
hereby is authorized and empowered to
refund to F. L. Norris the sum of $31.88
heretofore erroneously taxed on an
assessment for sewer tax in Sewer Dist-
rict #1 of the Town of Mamaroneck against
Section. 1 Block 20 of the Town of Mamaro-
neck and paid by said Norris and to take
his proper receipt therefor. Be it further
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor, Rec-
eiver of Taxes and Board of Assessors
be and they hereby are authorized and
directed to make the necessary correct-
ions on the proper books of record as
herein provided.
A communication from the Board of Assessors was
received and read requesting the apportionment of taxes
on property owned by the Aero Hotel, Inc.
designated as Section 5, Block 21, Lot 3, whereupon the foll-
owing resolution was, presented and duly adopted.
WHEREAS, the Board of Assessors of the
Town of Mamaroneck have petitioned this
Board in due form for the apportionment
of the taxes levied in the years 1910
and 1911 against a block of land de-
scribed in the assessment roll for those
years as Block 21, Section 5 of which
Lot 3, Block 21, Section 5 forms a part.
And
WHEREAS, from the petition filed by said
Board of Assessors it appears that said
Lot 3, Block 21, Section 5, has been
assessed on the assessment roll for the
year 1922 at the sum of $100.00. Now
therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Receiver of Taxes of
the Town of Mamaroneck be and hereby is
authorized and directed to apportion the
taxes for the years 1910 and 1911 levied
against block 21, Section 5 and to cancel
said taxes against Lot 3, Block 21, Sect-
ion 5 upon receipt by him of the amount
due thereon on the basis of $100.00
assessment, together with the penalties
and interest accrued to the date of pay-
ment.
Captain Nichols and delegation from the Weaver Street
Fire Company was present and the matter of the petition for the
purchase of a Hook and Ladder was taken up. After full discuss-
ion it was voted that the matter be laid over until next meeting
pending areport from Counsel.
Upon motion, the meeting adjourned at 11.20 P.M.
