TOWN OF MAMARONECK,
held, October 25th, 1922.
The meeting was called to order by Justice Boyd
at 9.10 P.M.
PRESENT: Justices Boyd, Collins and Shafer,
Clerk Sherman,
Counsellor Gamble.
The minutes of the meeting of October 4th, 1922,
were read and upon motion approved.
The report of the Receiver of taxes for the month
of September was received, read, ordered placed on file and
is as follows:
October 1st, 1922.
Pursuant to Section 23 of the Westchester County
Tax Law I respectfully report the amount of State, County,
Town, School, Highway and Special District taxes, together
with the interest and penalties thereon, collected by me
during the month of September 1922.

The Police report for the month of September was
received and read showing 51 arrests and fines in the amount
of $905.00. The report was ordered noted in the minutes and
placed on file.
The report of the Building Commission for the month
of September was received and read showing permits issued and
fees received amounting to $172.00. The report was ordered
noted in the minutes and placed on file.
The report of the Town Clerk for the month of September
was received and read showing fees collected in the amount of
$28.30. The report was ordered noted in the minutes and placed
on file.
A delegation from the Larchmont Public Health Assoc-
iation was present and upon motion, daily seconded, it was
VOTED, that the regular order of business
be dispensed with in order that those
present be given the privilege to address
the Board.
Mrs. Story, Miss Gridley and Mrs. Smith appeared in
the interests of the Larchmont Public Health Association,
requesting an increase in the allowance to $65.00 to help
defray the expenses of the Association.
Upon motion by Justice Shafer, seconded by Justice
Collins, it was upon ROLL CALL unanimously
RESOLVED, that the monthly allowance
of $50.00 heretofore granted to the
Larchmont Public Health Association
be and the same hereby is increased
to $65.00 per month and the Super-
visor is authorized and empowered to
pay the same upon the presentation
of a proper voucher therefore, commencing
November 1st next.
Mr. A. Whiton appeared before the Board in relation
to taking care of the drainage on Palmer Avenue, requesting
attention be given the matter before the laying of the new
Palmer Avenue roadway. The matter was referred to the Supt.
of Highways and the Supervisor.
A communication from Mr. F. L. Norris was received and
read stating that he had paid on April 28th, 1922, a sewer
tax amounting to $31.88, and upon investigation, he finds that
his property is not in the sewer district and therefore should
not be assessed for that purpose. The matter was referred to
the Board of Assessors and Counsel to tpestigate and report
back to the Board.
A communication from Mr. W. F. Edwards was received and
read stating that John McLaughlin is erecting a dwelling on
Hillerest Avenue adjacent to his premises, in violation of the
Building Code and Zoning Ordinance. The Clerk advised the Board
of the action taken by the Building Commission and also stated
that the matter is to come before the Board of Appeals on
October 26th, next. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr.
Edwards of the action taken.
An estimated was received and read from Mr. Robinett
for repairing the railings and platform at the Town Hall. The
matter was laid over and the Clerk was instructed to secure
other bids and report back to the Board.
Mr. Moore appeared before the Board in relation to
the petition filed for the securing of a Hook and Ladder
motor apparatus and requested that action be taken upon the
petition which is as follows:

Town Clerk of the Town of
Mamaroneck, New York.
The undersigned taxpayers and qualified electors
qualified to vote upon the proposition hereinafter set forth,
do hereby make application pursuant to the provisions of
Section 45 of the Town Law for the submission of the follow-
ing proposition to be voted upon by the duly qualified elect-
ors of the Town of Mamaroneck at a special Town meeting to
be hereinafter called as provided by Law, to wit:
"Shall the Town of Mamaroneck purchase
and equip an automotive hook and ladder
fire truck for the use of Fire District
#1 of the Town of Mamaroneck, at a cost
not to exceed the sum of $10,000.00,
the said Town of Mamaroneck for the
purpose of paying the cost thereof to
borrow on its bonds not exceeding in
the aggregate the sum of $10,000.00,
which said bonds shall bear interest at
the rate of 5% per annum, shall be pay-
able in five equal annual installments
of $2,000.00 each, beginning with the
year 1923 and annually thereafter. A
sum to be raised annually by levying a
tax upon all the taxable property of
said Fire District #1 of the Town of
Mamaroneck sufficient to pay the inter-
est and principal of said bonds when the
same shall become due.
And such applicants hereby request that a vote be
taken upon such proposition at such special Town meeting.

Upon motion, the meeting adjourned at 9.40 P.M.
