HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922_07_05 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board, TOWN OF MAMARONECK, held, July 5th, 1922. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 10.45 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices Collins, Dudley and Shafer, Town Clerk Sherman, Counsellor Gamble. Upon motion, it was voted to dispense with the reading of minutes of meetings not yet approved. The following resolution, was offered by Justice Shafer and seconded by Justice Collins: WHEREAS, the Supervisor of the Town of Mamaroneck has heretofore and on July 1st, 1922, received from the Receiver of Taxes of said Town a verified state- ment of unpaid School taxes for the year 1921, aggregating the sum of $12, 197.15; now therefore, be it RESOLVED, that pursuant to the provis- ions of the Westchester County Tax Law, the Supervisor of said Town be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to borrow upon the credit of the Town of Mamaroneck a sum of not more than $12, 197.15 for which sum he shall issue in the name and under the seal of said Town, against uncollected 1921 School taxes, one or more certificates of in- debtedness, each of such a denomination and to mature at such a date as the Supervisor may determine. Said certif- icates of indebtedness shall be signed by the Supervisor, countersigned by the Town Clerk and bear interest at the rate of not more than 6% per annum. And it is further RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to dispose of said certificates of indebt- edness for not less than the par value thereof. The ,question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously adopted. The Clerk reported that he had been served with a summ- ons and complaint in a foreclosure action of Sarah Mapo and Zen- turino Fontechio and the Town of Mamaroneck and others affecting tax liens of Section 8, Block 81, lot 30 for taxes of 1918, sold June 18th, 1919 and taxes of 1919, sold May 26th, 1920. The matter was referred to Counsellor Gagliardi. A communication from the village Board was received and read stating that after July 1st, 1922, their tenancy of the Town Hall will terminate. The communication was ordered received and placed on file and the Supervisor was authorized to submit a claim for unpaid rent due. Upon motion, the meeting adjourned at 11.10 P.M. Frederick M.
