HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922_04_28 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board TOWN OF MAMARONECK, held, April 25th, 1922. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton at 8.30 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd, Dudley and Collins, Town Clerk Sherman, Counsellor Gamble. Upon motion it was voted to dispense with the reading of minutes of meetings not vet approved. Supervisor Burton stated that the first order of business was the reading of the notice of sale of Fire House bonds for Fire District No. 1 of the Town of Mamaroneck in the sum of $65,000, pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 561 of the Laws of 1921, which the Clerk having read, upon motion duly seconded RESOLVED, that the notice of sale be and the same hereby is approved. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was RESOLVED, that the bids received pur- suant to said notice be now opened. The Town Clerk proceeded to open and read each of the bids received, all of which were accompanied by a certified check in the required amount and are as follows: Lamport, Barker & Jennings $66,529.80 plus accrued interest ($102. 35 for each $100 par value of bond.) Watkins & Co. $101.784 for each $100 par value of bond. Sherwood & Merrifield $101.84 for each $100 par value of bond. George B. Gibbons $102.33 for each $100 par value of bond. Lamport, Barker & Jennings, $65,301.05 plus accrued interest. for a 4 1/2% bond, Upon motion, duly seconded, it was RESOLVED, that the Board go into exec- utive session to tabulate and consider the bids received. The Board reconvened at 9.30 P.M. The Supervisor stated that the Board had considered all bids which had been received. The representative of Lamport, Barker & Jennings present was informed that the notice of sale specifically stated that the type of bond being sold was a 5% bond and that the bid for a 4 1/2% bonds could not be accepted. Upon motion of Mr.Justice Dudley seconded by Justice Boyd, it was, RESOLVED, that the bids of Watkins & Company and Sherwood & Merrifield be rejected and their respective checks be returned by the Clerk; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Board adjourn the awarding of the sale of $65,000 Town of Mamaroneck Fire District No. 1,5% Fire House bonds to Monday, May 1st, 1922, at 8.20 P.M. Upon motion duly seconded, it was VOTED, that the certified checks of the unsuccessful bidders be returned by the Clerk upon receiving a receipt therefor, and so noted in the minutes. The Clerk thereupon returned the certified checks of Watkins and Company and Sherwood & Merrifield. Upon motion, the meeting adjourned to reconvene at 5. 20 P.M. May 1st, 1922. Frederick M.
