TOWN OF MAMARONECK,
held, March 30th, 1922.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton
at 9.00 P.M.
PRESENT: Supervisor Burton,
Justices Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Shafer,
Town Clerk Sherman,
Upon motion it was voted to dispense with the reading
of minutes of meetings not yet approved.
Messrs Harlach, Brewer, Stevens and Perrin were present.
The Supervisor stated that the meeting was called for
the purpose of taking up the zoning question the bill in relation
to zoning having been passed by the Legislature.
Upon motion, it was voted that the call
of the meeting be approved.
The following resolution was offered by Justice Dudley
and seconded by Justice Collins:
WHEREAS, Chapter 322 of the Laws of
1922, amending section 142-a of the
Town Law, empowereing town boards
in certain towns to establish build-
ing lines and to regulate the char
aster and location of buildings
constructed within such towns, be-
came a law on March 29th, 1922, and
WHEREAS, it is the unanimous sense
of this Board that immediate steps be
taken so that this town may avail it-
self of the provisions of said law,
now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that a Commission of five
resident citizens of this Town be app-
ointed by this Board for the purpose
of carrying into effect the provisions
of said Law; and be it further
RESOLVED, that E. B. Meginniss, Howell C.
Perrin, Gail Borden, Percy S. Clark and
Arthur F. Engle be and they hereby are
appointed Zoning Commissioners; and be
it further
RESOLVED, that said Commissioners meet
at the office of the Supervisor as soon
as may be convenient after they are
notified of their appointment by the
Town Clerk, and organize by electing
among their members a Clerk and a
Chairman, and that as soon as the organ-
ization shall have been completed, they
proceed forthwith with the preparation
of a zoning ordinance or ordinances and
submit the same for adoption to this
Board with all convenient speed; and be
it further
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and
he hereby is empowered to employ such
special Counsel, Engineer and such
other assistants as he may deem ad-
visable and that the expenses incurred
in connection therewith shall be a
proper town charge.
The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution,
same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously adopted.
Upon motion, duly seconded, it was
VOTED, that Mr. Perrin who was present
be requested to on behalf of the Town
Board to call the members of the Comm-
ission together for organization.
The folilowing resolution was offered by Justice Collins
and seconded by Justice Boyd.
WHEREAS, a Zoning Commission has been
appointed by this Board for the pur-
pose of drafting and submitting for
adoption to this Board a zoning ordin-
ance or ordinances under the provisions
of Chapter 322 of the Laws of 1922, now
therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Building Commission
be and they hereby are requested to hold
in abeyance until the adoption of such
zoning ordinances, the issuance of per-
mits upon such applications as may have
been filed or may hereafter be filed
with them for the alteration or erection
business, commercial or industrial
structures.
The resolution was declared adopted.
Upon motion, the meeting adjourned at 10.15 P.M.
