HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922_03_15 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board TOWN OF MAMARONECK held, March 15th, 1922. The meeting was called to order by Justice Boyd at 8.45 P.M. PRESENT: Justices Boyd, Collins, Dudley and Shafer, Town Clerk Sherman, Counsellor Gamble. The minutes of the meetings of February 18th, 23rd and March 1st, 1922 were read and upon motion approved. The report of the Receiver of Taxes for the month of February 1922 was received, read, ordered placed on file and is as follows: March 1st, 1922. Sir: Pursuant to section 23 of the Westchester County Tax Law I hereby respectfully report the amount of State, County, Town, School, Highway and Special District taxes, together with the interest and penalties thereon, collected by me during the month of February 1922. 1921 1920 1919 1918 1917 All taxes taxes Taxes Taxes Taxes Arrears TOTAL. McGivney, Receiver of Taxes. The report of the Police Department was received and read showing 4 arrests and fines in the amount of $35.00 Same was ordered noted in the minutes and placed on file. The report of the Building Commission for the month. of February 1922 was received and read showing permits issued as follows; For blasting 1, for garages 1, for dwellings 7 and amount of fees received, $89.00. Same was ordered noted in the minutes and placed on file. The report of the Town Clerk for the month of February 1922 was received, read, ordered placed on file and is as follows; March 1st 1922. Hon. Geo. W. Burton, Supervisor, Mamaroneck, New York. Dear Sir: I beg to submit herewith my report of fees collected in the office of the Town Clerk for the month of February 1922 as follows: Dog licenses issued 33 $8.25 Lost tags " 1 .25 Hunting licenses " 17 4.25 Marriage " " 8 5.00 Chattels filed 30 3.60 Total amount, $24.35 Enclosed find check for the above amount. Respectfully submitted, sgnd, Frederick M.Sherman Town Clerk. A communication from Mr.James J. Burnett was received and read in relation to an erroneous assessment on his property. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was VOTED, that the matter be referred to Counsel. Mr. Charles Sharp was present and requested permission to conduct a carnival at the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Chats- worth Avenue. Upon motion, duly seconded, it was VOTED, that the application for the carnival permit be denied. Mr. Burns was present in relation to a siren for the new Weaver Street Fire house. The matter was referred to the Committee. Justice Shafer presented a lease for his Justice rooms and it was voted that same be referred to Counsel for his approval and if approved, the Supervisor and Town Clerk are authorized to execute the lease. A petition was received and read from the Board of Education for the cancellation of an erroneous assessment. The matter was referred to Counsel. Counsel reported in relation to the Burnett matter for the cancellation of certain penalties on taxes and reported that the petition be denied. Upon motion, duly seconded it was VOTED, that the report of Counsel in the Burnett matter be approved and the petition is denied. Receiver of Taxes Harry T. McGivney was presented and requested the Town Board to purchase an assessment roll cabinet for use in his office. Upon motion, duly seconded it was VOTED, that the Receiver of Taxes be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to secure bids for an assessment roll cabinet for his office. The Clerk reported on behalf of the Board of Auditors the matter of the Lockwood claim asking the Town Board to approve same before their audit. The claim was referred to Captain Nichols for his explanation. The following resolution was offered by Justice Shafer and seconded by Justice Dudley. RESOLVED, that there be levied and assessed against the taxable prop- erty within Sewer District No. 1 Town of Mamaroneck and collected and when collected, paid over to the Supervisor the sum of $9,000.00 to maturing bonds of said district in like amount. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously adopted. Upon motion, the meeting adjourned at 9.30 P.M. Frederick M. Sherman Town Clerk.
