HomeMy WebLinkAbout1922_02_01 Town Board Minutes Meeting of the Town Board TOWN OF MAMARONECK held, February 1st, 1922. The meeting was called to order by Supervisro Burton at 9.30 P.M. PRESENT: Supervisor Burton, Justices Boyd, Collins and Dudley, Town Clerk Sherman. Upon motion it was voted to dispense with the reading of minutes of meetings not yet approved. Messrs Eggers and Mink mere present in relation to plans for the new Weaver Street fire house and upon motion duly seconded it was voted that the regular order of business be suspended in order that the gentlemen present be heard. The plans presented were discussed and upon motion duly seconded it was RESOLVED, that the plans be received and referred to the Committee of this Board for further report. The Board with Captain Decker took up the matter of appointing three patrolman for the Town Police and upon the Captains recommendation it was RESOLVED, that this Board approve the recommendation of Captain Decker in the appointment of Messrs. Faulkner McCarthy and Ellingham, with the proviso that Faulkner appear before the Super- visor as to his fitness to qualify and it was further RESOLVED, that the Clerk be and he hereby is instructed to notify the Public Service Commission of the action of this Board. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution., same was upon roll call, unanimously adopted. The Clerk presented bids received from the R.A. Fife Corporation and Julian L. Franck for chairs for the Justices offices and upon motion duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL it was VOTED, that the Clark be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to purchase from the R.A.Fife Corporation twelve chairs for the office of Justice Boyd and twelve chairs for the office of Justice Collins at the sum of $3.75 from J.L. Franck per sitting and/twelve chairs for the office of Justice Shafer at $2.90 per chair and twelve chairs for the office of Justice Dudley at $4.60 per chairs. Justice Dudley requested the purchase of a form cabinet and carpet for his office and upon motion duly seconded it was Upon ROLL CALL, VOTED, that the Clerk be and hereby is authorized and dir- ected to purchase for the office of Justice Dudley one form cabinet and carpet for said office. Justice Collins stated the need of a rug for his office and upon motion, duly seconded it was Upon ROLL CALL, VOTED, that the Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and directed to purchase a rub for the office of Justice Collins. The following resolution was offered by Justice Collins and seconded by Justice Dudley; Whereas, it appears that it would be for the best interests of the Town to have certain tax liens affecting prem- ises upon whial Town or School taxes have remained unpaid for three years or more forclosed under the provisions of the Westchester County Tax Law, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and hereby is authorized and empowered to take such action as he may deem advis- able to the end that such a number of tax liens not exceeding thirty affect- ing premises upon which Town or School taxes have remained unpaid for a per- iod of three years or more may be for- closed; and be it further RESOLVED, that for the purpose of car- rying out the provisions of the above resolution the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and empowered to employ special counsel, if he deems it necessary so to do. The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution, same was upon ROLL CALL, unanimously adopted. The suggestion of the Board of Assessors to incorporate school district two into the Town of Mamaroneck with school dist- trict one was discussed and it was VOTED, that the recommendation of the Board of Assessors be approved and the matter referred to the Supervisor to report back. Upon motion, the meeting adjourned at 11.15 P.M. Town Clerk.
