TOWN OF MAMARONECK
held, December 31st, 1921.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Burton
at 3.00 P.M.
PRESENT: Supervisor Burton,
Justices Boyd, Collins, Dudley & Shafer,
Town Clerk Sherman.
Upon motion, it was voted to dispense with the reading
of minutes of meetings not yet approved.
The Clerk presented a complaint served upon him by
Charles C. Otto, representing the Waldorf & Gill Real Estate Co
in relation to the adjustment of taxes. The matter was oredered
referred to Counsel.
The Clerk reported the receipt of the following bonds
and their respective amounts as follows;
Supervisor, $20,000, Receiver of Taxes, $20,000,
Constable Park, $1,000, Constable Welsh, $1,000, Constable Nichols
$1,000, Constable Carey, $1,000, Constable Kohloff, $1,000
Upon motion, duly seconded, it was
VOTED, that the above recited bonds
be referred to Counsel for his app-
roval as to suffiency and form and
when so approved, to be filed with
the Town Clerk.
Communications were received and read from Messrs
Harlach and Brewer resigning as Building Commissioners. Same were
ordered placed on file.
A communication was received and read from Harry T. Mc
Givney, Receiver of Taxes, advising the Board of the appointment
of Santo Lanza as Deputy Receiver of Taxes and asking that same
be approved by the Town Board.
Upon motion, duly seconded, it was
VOTED, that the appointment of Santo
Lanza as Deputy Receiver of Taxes be
and the same is hereby approved, sub-
ject to his qualifying and the sec-
uring of the necessary bond.
At this point Supervisor Burton requested Justice Boyd
to take the chair and left the room.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was
VOTED, that the salary of the Supervisor
under the Westchester County Tax Law for
the ensueing term be and the same is here-
by fixed at the sum of $2,500 per year
and it is further
RESOLVED, that the compensation of the
Supervisor under the Highway Law be and
the same is hereby fixed at the sum of
$1,000 per year.
At this point Supervisor Burton re-entered the
mmeting and assumed the chair.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was
RESOLVED, that the salary of the Re-
ceiver of Taxes for the ensueing term
be and the same is hereby fixed at
the sum of $4,500 per year.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was
RESOLVED, that the salary of the Town
Clerk for the ensueing term be and the
same hereby is fixed at the sum of
$2,500 per year.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was
RESOLVED, that the salary of the Sup-
erintendent of Highways for the ensue=
ing term be and the same is hereby
fixed at the rate of $5.00 per day.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was
RESOLVED, that the salary of the John
Murray, John Maddock and Ferdinand
Fish, Assessors, for the ensueing term
be and the same is hereby fixed at the
sum of $1,500 each per year.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was
RESOLVED, that the salary of the Over-
seer of the Poor for the ensueing term
be and the same is hereby fixed at the
sum of $1,200 per year.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL it was
RESOLVED, that the compensation of the
Auditors for the ensueing term be and
the same is hereby fixed at the sum of
$5.00 per session or a maximum amount
in full payment of all services during
the year of $500.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was
RESOLVED, that the salary of the Super-
visor, Clerk to the Supervisor, Town
Clerk, Receiver of Taxes, Town Superin-
tendent of Highways, Assessors, Overseer
of the Poor and Health Officer be paid
in monthly instaliments, upon present-
ation of proper vouchers therefor, and
the Supervisor is hereby authorized
and empowered to pay the same.
Upon motion, duly seconded and upon ROLL CALL, it was
RESOLVED, that the Town Officers be
allowed their necessary expenses in-
curred in the performance of their re-
spective duties as provided by law.
The Clerk brought to the attention of the Board the
matter of renewing the lease for the polling place at the 6th
district and upon motion duly seconded it was
VOTED, that Counsel be and he hereby
is authorized to secure lease for the
polling place at the Sixth District.
Upon motion, duly seconded it was
VOTED, that the Town Clerk be and he
hereby is requested to file an in-
ventory of all town property.
Supervisor Burton offered the following preamble and
resolution;-
It is not with a deep sense of regret
that this Town Board notes the retire-
ment from office of some of the Offic-
ials who have been associated with the
present administration for several years
last past;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this
Board extend to the retiring Officials
its gratitude and appreciations for the
conscientious and faithful service which
they have rendered to the taxpayers of
this Town and for their genuine co-op-
eration rendered to the members of this
Board during their tenure of office; and
be it further
RESOLVED, that this Board extend to the
said retiring officials also its best
wishes for a most harpy and prosperous
new year.
The question being taken upon the foregoing resolution,
same was declared adopted.
Supervisor Burton presented the names of Messrs Brewer
and Harlach for their re-appointment as Building Commissioners
and upon motion, duly seconded it was
VOTED, that this Town Board confirm
the re-appointment of Messrs Brewer
and Harlach as Building Commissioners
in order that the good work performed
by them may be carried on and it was
further
VOTED, that this Board extend a vote
of thanks to the gentlemen in apprec-
iation of their work on the Commission.
Upon motion, the meeting adjourned at 4.45 P.M.
