Minutes of the Racial Equity Task Force of the Town of Mamaroneck
Held March 15, 2021 at 7:00 pm, via Zoom
Present: Jeffery King (Town Council member, Chairman), Sabrina Fiddelman (Town Council member),
Helen Horsham-Bertels, Lynne Murphy-Rivera, Andrew Tannenbaum
Chairman King called the meeting to order.
Open Issues
1. Review Police Reform and Reinvention Report Presentation
The Task Force will be presenting the draft Police Reform and Reinvention Report to the Town Board
tomorrow evening, Tuesday, March 16 at 7:30pm via Zoom.
It was determined that Mr. King will be providing an introduction and background.
Ms. Fiddelman will give background on the long term objectives of the Task Force and discuss the
process by which the Task Force gained input from stakeholders and the community at large to inform
its recommendations.
Ms. Horsham-Bertels and Mr. Zeballos will speak specifically about the survey, it’s development, results
and what recommendations we focused on based on the voices we heard.

Mr. Tannenbaum will talk about the 2015 President’s Task Force on 21 Century Policing Report and
how it informed our work. He will outline the areas into which we categorized our recommendations
and how we arrived at these areas of import.
Mr.Tannenbaum and Ms. Murphy Rivera will discuss the Task Force’s recommendations.
We will try to keep our presentation to 20-25 minutes to allow for sufficient time for questions and
discussion.

2.Discussion of Public Forum to be held on Tuesday, March 23.
The Task Force and the Town Board will be in attendance at the public forum to receive comments
about the Draft Police Reform and Reinvention Report. The draft report will be posted on the Town’s

website on Wednesday, March 17 for public review. A robo-call and mass email will be sent by the end
of this week to let residents know of the meeting and the availability of the report. The report will be
noticed via a banner at the top of the home page of the Town’s website. The meeting and report
availability will be announced on the Town’s Facebook page, as well.
Report of Minutes
Due to the lateness with which the Task Force received the minutes of the March 8 meeting, the
approval of those minutes was held over to tomorrow night’s meeting.
Next Meeting
The next meetings of the RETF will be the joint meeting with the Town Board on Tuesday, March 16 and
the Public forum on Tuesday, March 23. Additional future meetings are tbd.
