CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wassman at 8:05 PM. He
stated that three of the five members were present and that a unanimous
vote was necessary for approval. Mr. Wassman stated that any applicant
could withdraw his application, without prejudice, until a later meeting.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
There was an improper quorum for approval of the August 20, 1992 minutes.
AUTO CRAFTSMAN, LTD. - 2430 Boston Post Road, Block 503 Lot 421
Sign application
Dan Gallello, G & M Nameplate, appeared accompanied by Tony Masella,
owner of Auto Craftsman, Ltd. This application had been heard in August;
a new submission had been requested. However the members of the Board
were perplexed by said submission as they had requested a less, "busy"
sign. Changes were agreed upon during this meeting.
Mr. Wassman stated that the BAR is the Lead Agency in the matter of Auto
Craftsman, Ltd.
On motion of Mr. Wassman, seconded by Mrs. Williams, by a vote of 3-0,
the Board approved the sign for Auto Craftsman, Ltd. with the following
stipulations:
The two-sided, illuminated sign, which is to be placed at the
Larchmont end of the property, will be 3' by 6' and 10' off the
ground. It will have a blue background with white letters. At the
bottom there will be a logo of a white tunnel with a red, destroyed
car emerging as a repaired blue one. There will be no racing
stripes, and the telephone number will not be included in the sign.
The other freestanding sign on the property will be removed.

JACK'S MIRACLE AUTO REPAIRS, INC. - 2430 Boston Post Road
Block 503 Lot 421 - Sign application
Appearing were Dan Gallello, of G & M Nameplate, and Jack Eisenbach,
owner. Despite an agreement made at the August meeting about details
different from those in the original application, Mr. Gallello had not
submitted new sign designs or building renderings reflecting the
changes. The Board had requested two signs for the building, not three,
totalling forty square feet. Mr. Eisenbach was unwilling to agree to
less than the law allows and withdrew his application. The Board
accepted this withdrawal.
SATURN USED CARS - 2523 Boston Post Road - Block 504 Lot 126
Plan review
John Crouch, architect, appeared on behalf of Saturn. The Board members
complimented him on the appearance of the Saturn dealership.
This application is for the used-car lot across the street from the
dealership. Plans call for razing of the idiosyncratic, gateway building
to be replaced by a small office module with access for the handicapped.
The module will be 20 feet away from the property line. Plans call for
planting beds of azaleas and taxus in front of the building and at the
street frontage. The Board requested rhodendrons rather than azaleas as
the former are hardier. Three street trees are planned, too. They will
be either White House or Chanticleers which are derivatives of Bradford
Pears.
The existing fence at the rear of the property will be replaced by a
stockade fence to conform with the Zoning Code for a buffer zone between
a commercial property and a residential area. The hemlocks planted there
will remain, and arbor vitae will be planted to fill in the areas beneath
the branches. The pavement will be patched, sealed and recoated.
The lighting fixtures will be the same as those used for the main
dealership. The lights will illuminate the front row of cars, and
security lighting at the back of the lot will be provided, also. Work on
the cars will be done across the street.
On motion of Mr. Immerman, seconded by Mrs. White, the Board of
Architectural Review approved the plans for the Saturn used-car lot as
shown on Drawing A-1, dated 9/7/92, with the following changes or
clarifications. 1) Rhododendrons shall be planted rather than azaleas.
2) The rear fence shall be as high as the Zoning Code allows for a
buffer zone with the "good" side facing the residential area. 3)
Additional lighting shall be provided at the rear of the lot for security
purposes. 4) The color of the sign shall be the same Chinese red as
used in the signs at the Saturn new-car dealership. 5) The pavement of
the lot shall be patched, sealed and repaved. It shall be a condition of
this approval that the agreed-upon planting shall be maintained and/or
replaced.

OLD BUSINESS
It was noted that several rhododendrons at the Lexus dealership have been
allowed to die and that weeds and tall grasses are growing at the
Lamborghini building.

adjourned at 9:05 PM.
