BOARD OF ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK
OCTOBER 12, 1995, IN THE SENIOR CENTER, TOWN CENTER,
740 WEST BOSTON POST ROAD,
MAMARONECK, NEW YORK

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wassman at 8:00 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
On a motion made by Mrs. Washington, seconded by Mrs. Williams, the Minutes of July 20, 1995 as
amended to include the corrected June 15, 1995 Minutes were unanimously approved.
On a motion made by Mr. Immerman, seconded by Mrs. Williams, the Minutes of August 17, 1995 as
amended were unanimously approved.
Comments were made by the Board regarding the Minutes of September 21, 1995, and it was suggested
that Mr. Immerman and Mr. Jacobson review the Minutes and submit a corrected copy to the secretary
to be resubmitted to the Board for approval.
Chairman Wassman read the following application before the Board:
CVS/Pharmacy - 1310 Boston Post Road -Block 410 lot 463 - Sign "24 Hours"
Larry Brown of North Shore Neon Sign Company appeared, representing the applicant, stating that it is
important for the consumers to know that the store is open 24 hours.
Mrs. Williams asked if the pharmacy was open twenty-four hours, whereby the representative said it was.
A discussion followed.
Mr. Immerman asked about the size being within the permitted limits and the colors.
Mr. Brown pointed out that the sign was conforming.
Mrs. Washington said she would have liked the sign to read Open 24 Hours, rather than the shortened
version, 24 hours, which by itself is somewhat confusing.
Mr. Brown stated that this was the standard CVS signage.
On a motion made by Mr. Immerman to approve the signage as presented, which was seconded by Mr.
Jacobson, the following resolution was unanimously adopted:
WHEREAS, Michelle Favaro for CVS/Pharmacy has submitted an application to the Building
Inspector, together with plans for a sign application for a sign "24 Hours" on the premises located at 1310

Boston Post Road and known on the Tax Assessment Map of the Town of Mamaroneck as Block 410 Lot
463; and
WHEREAS, the Building Inspector has declined to issue such permit on the grounds that the
review by the Board of Architectural Review is required; and
WHEREAS, Michelle Favaro submitted an application for approval to the Board; and
WHEREAS, this Board has examined the plans, inspected the site, reviewed the application and
has heard all persons interested in this application; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the subject application be and the same is granted, subject to the following
conditions:
1. The sign will be within the permitted limits, 2 ft. x 2 ft.;
2. The colors will be red and white, the standard CVS colors as submitted.
Mr. Wassman stated that the Board having considered the application favorably, the applicant is permitted
to install the sign.
Mrs. Washington asked if there was any new business.
Mr. Gerety, the Assistant Building Inspector, asked if the Board Members had reviewed the new B.A.R.
application.
Mr. Immerman asked if the new application was complete.
Mr. Gerety stated the application was complete and the only change would be in the copy print.
A detailed discussion followed regarding the clarity of the application and the setup.
Mr. Wassman suggested that Mr. Gerety tell Mr. Jakubowski, the Building Inspector, that the Board feels
the application can be improved upon and that he will see him when he returns from vacation to discuss
the application.
ADJOURNMENT
Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
